would the Canucks realistically give up Demko. markstrom wants a lot and they need to resign players

Yes. It’s most likely that they will use Demko along with a 1st or 2nd to get rid of Loui Eriksson

By the time Markstrom becomes an elite NHLer capable of bringing Hugh/EP bonafide cup-runs, he'll be in a rocking chair...

I'd keep Demko and let Markstrom go. That's why they drafted Demko -- now it's time to take a deep breath and step off the platform. Markstrom won't carry the Canucks much further than Demko can this season, and Demko might be 2022's Jordan Binnington.

I think they protect Demko no matter what. Whether they have Markstrom this year depends on whether he’s fine with playing for Seattle or not.
