Description
Obviously draft picks may look a little different but if the isles let Boychuk's contract run out then this is what I can see happening. I think Niederreiter comes back to the island and he at 31 won't get a pay raise from the 5M his getting so I went about a M less.
Not sure what It'll take for the seattle move
Not sure what Dobson costs at that point
Beau year 2nd year on that contract
Pulock year 3rd year on that contract
Pelech year 2nd year on that contract

Dobson is going to get more than that on a 7 year term if he’s our #1D by the time he’s up for a new contract.

Almost every RFA will likely get more with the exception of pelech and toews

Seattle would be in great shape with those! However why is the pick needed? Bailey and Varlamov have positive value?

I added it because of their cap. I don't know who the isles would be able to protect so the deal would be to take the 10M off the isles books and take the 2nd and protect their youth. Not sure if the pick is needed but that's what I was thinking

Pulock was based off Staple's prediction for this offseason. Toews is gonna get a bridge deal, not sure what his next two seasons will show for what would be this contract. If beau has a season next year like this post season then for sure he gets more. My only problem is that as a GM we can't pay every RFA 5+M. Beau, Sorokin, Pulock, Pelech, Toews, Dobson, Barzy. Gotta use the RFA contract to our advantage

That’s why lou should have given beau a 3.85 mill x 5 contract last summer.

If toews gets a 2-3 year bridge deal, it’s going to be incredibly hard to retain him because his market value is going to skyrocket. He got so unlucky this season with points. But he is an elite 5v5 player. Locking up toews for at least 4 years should he the priority this summer

It would be a blessing if we could get rid of Leddy Boychuk and Ladd contracts to just sign everyone before their values are way too much. But I would also like a first rounder in the upcoming 4 years

Boychuk and Ladd aren’t going anywhere - Leddy, Bailey, and cizikas have value - isles will have to make a tough decision and possibly move two of those three.

Toews is their best bet at getting a steal of a contract - his market value will be over 6 million in 2 years. I’d sign him for 4.25 x 5.

Pulock at less than like 8 would be a steal, Toews could get more too, and if Dobson is better than Pulock (and has the pedigree of being good, rather than just being good) I doubt he gets less than 8

Toews has to help his case next year. He'll sign for about 3 per on a bridge deal and those 2 years he needs to prove his worth. He isn't getting younger though he's already 25 then would be 27. That Pulock contract is in the 3rd year of what would be this years contract 5x5. Until Dobson plays a full season who knows but he looks really promising. Isles are in a good spot even with the cap issues.

I mean, Toews was pretty elite this year, and very good in small sample sizes before, especially if he only gets a 2 year bridge this summer, I would be surprised if he gets less than like 6 after, i figured you'd extend Pulock long term after this year, and he's proven himself to be a 1RD enough, he should get a lot of money this summery, and ik it's still early with Dobson, but putting him over Pulock makes me think that you think he'll be a 1RD by this time (and I wouldn't be surprised, I love Dobson, he's so good) and I highly doubt he signs for 5 mil with term as a 1RD, especially with as high of a draft pedigree and the amount of hype he has, you see how much BUF fans are worried about paying Dahlin like 10 mil when he's really been somewhat underwhelming lol

Def valid points. Lou needs to work those RFA contracts in his advantage. Something I don't want to bring up but it would've helped is if we traded JT at the deadline 2 years ago. Those one or two 1st rounders would've been used to ship Boychuk and Ladd and then Barzy gets his 8x10, Pulock 6x6, Pelech 5.25x6, Beau 5x4.5, Toews 4x4 last year. Maybe even cheaper. But that's neither her nor there. I just don't want to pay Pulock a 1RD for Dobson to come in and be the 1RD (which we all think he is) and even Bode Wilde to come in and play solid (less of what we all think). If we could give everyone what they were worth before the flat cap and if we didn't have 11M tied into nothing but unfortunately that isn't the case
