Canadiens trade: Vrana meets Montreal's biggest need for a scoring winger, and he's also younger than Danault with a few more years of team control. Danault would take Kuznetsov's spot at 2C while Kuzy moves to wing to replace Vrana, which would go a long way towards fixing the problems with team defense. I think Vrana's more valuable than Danault because of the team control aspect, so the Lehkonen-Panik swap is evening out the value. This trade hurts me cause I love Vrana, but I'm really high on Danault as well. Lot of risk for the Caps if they can't work out an extension for Danault, so if Ovie's really serious about getting 12M+ I'd scrap this and resign myself to having to trade Vrana's RFA rights for futures in a year.
Predators trade: Nashville fans have said 3rd pairing defense is a need, so Siegenthaler makes sense for them. With Dillon re-signed (Caps are rumored to want him back) and Fehervary breaking through, I think Siegenthaler's an odd man out due to the Caps surfeit of LHD. I think he'd love the chance to play with his countryman Josi, and he'd basically replace Hamhuis as a 3rd pairing PK specialist, with 2nd pairing upside. Jarnkrok's usage dropped when Hynes took over, so a reunion with Lavi would probably be good for him. His contract is fantastic for a middle-6 winger who can fill in at center if needed. I could see the Caps adding a mid-round pick here, or Hagelin if the Preds would be interested in him.
Jets and Sabres trades: Pure cap dumps, destination isn't so important. Kempny and Hags aren't bad players, but Kempny's pushed out by the same crush of LHD as Siegs, and Jarnkrok and Lehkonen make Hagelin expendable. He could stay if the team is confident in Samsonov and Vanecek as the goalie tandem.
Cernak: I don't see any way the Lightning could afford to match that offer sheet. Paying a 2021 2nd to add a guy like Cernak is fantastic value, and he's probably cheaper cap-wise than any of the higher-end RHD available through free agency. I think this is a home run if Cernak's willing to sign the OS.
Dillon: He starts out on the top pairing but moves to the 3rd when Fehervary shows he's ready to play with Carlson. A bottom 4 of Orlov-Cernak and Dillon-Jensen is basically two shutdown pairings. I don't see many other options in free agency that I'd be happy with, maybe Kulikov or Chara? Dillon seems more realistic since we already know the Caps are interested.
Weber: Might as well get another ex-Lavi player for 7D.
Greiss: Splits the starts with Samsonov (or Vanecek if Sam's not ready by the start of the season), gone before the cap crunch happens next offseason. Greiss is of those guys I've always like for no particular reason which is why I picked him, but I could also see Talbot or Crawford.
Danault is a better defensive forward and produces more offensively. Danault doesn't get any PP time, clearly you don't know what you are talking about.
Danault will be getting a top 6 role here, if he wants to move, we will move him for more value than Vrana.
The habs are getting screwed here. We can move him for more if we wanted to trade him.
Montreal rejects, only way we are trading Danault is if it's for a top end pick or a game changer. Neither of these players achieve that.
Yeah, the 24 year old winger who in the last two seasons has more goals than any Canadien besides Gallagher and is 5th in the NHL in G/60 at 5 on 5 isn't a game changer... If he doesn't meet your criteria for a "game changer," then you're seriously overestimating what one year of Danault is worth. I'm not gonna argue he's better than Danault right now, but factoring in age and contract status I don't think any neutral party would say Danault has more value.

I guess playing with Kuznetsov and Oshie has it's benefits.
I'm not trying to say one year of Danault is worth more than Vrana, I'm saying Danault is worth more than Vrana. You're acting like it's a for sure thing that Danault leaves Montreal for nothing and goes to free agency. That will not be the case, if they don't have a contract agreed upon by the TD, he will be one of the more sought after rentals and teams will overpay for his services.

Yes and half a year of Danault is not worth *years* of Vrana... a young forward that has been continuing to trend upwards.
Where did I say a Half year of Danault is worth more than Multiple years of Vrana? Quit trying to put words in my mouth
You didn't exactly, but you're trying to say that Vrana has less value than Danault. He doesn't. He especially doesn't with even less term left. 1 year of Danault < multiple years of Vrana. So it stands to reason from what you're saying Montreal may do that this trade is wise for them.
The bottom line here is that you're overestimating the value of one year of Danault, and undervaluing what multiple years of Vrana is worth.

Vrana does have less value than Danault. Danault with an extension has more value than Vrana for multiple years. You're acting like Danault said he doesn't want to play in Montreal or something.
Do you think Danault is retiring or something? The term has nothing to do with anything.

I can see you're not going to concede an inch ever no matter what the facts are and the contact situation is, you're not worth talking to anymore regarding this.

You haven't given any facts that say Vrana is the better player? You've convinced me even more that Danault is far superior.. I don't know why you would even say
Contract situation means nothing unless we know Montreal and Danault aren't going to agree to a contract, that's the only way this deal makes sense. You don't trade a top 6 Center for a middle 6 winger, sorry.

Yes middle 6 winger. Did I say armchair GM is reality? You wrote an essay saying why these deals make sense in real life so why would you even say that? You're burying yourself here.

Except more people agree with me than you. Lol you're by yourself. Quit while your behind.
except you apparently don't know how contracts work, or who plays on your own team's PP. Or that armchair GM is hypothetical. Or who created this thread.
Other than all that, yeah nothing to be embarrassed about. You're doing a good job.

How don't I know how contracts work? Please use your "big brain" to explain that to me...
Or that Danault has the 7th most power play time for forwards on the team.... If you checked on any sites, you would see that he doesn't get regular PP time, but I guess I have to explain that to you as well...
Or that you say this isn't real life even though the Armchair GM clearly said why this would make sense in real life....
I mean do you think before you type or are you just acting this stupid?

Desperation is a stinky cologne. Have a good day, kid.
