1.
NYI
  1. 2020 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Lou makes his first of 4 Draft Day deals by sending favorite Leddy to the Devils for the last of their three first round picks in the Draft (#20 overall). Palmieri is discussed but he stays after securing an extension
NJD
  1. Leddy, Nick
  2. 2020 5th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Leddy immediately is in the mix among the top two lines on the left countering Subban and Severson on the right. NJ also demanded a late round pick back to part with a first rounder, still leaving them the 15th and 18th overall picks
2.
NYI
  1. 2020 7th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Lou's second Draft Day swap is a minor one, finally sending the disgruntled Ho-Sang out west for a 7th round pick
STL
  1. Ho-Sang, Joshua [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
The Blues got a small peak of the talented yet troubled JHS on loan late last season and decide the seventh rounder is worth the risk
3.
NYI
  1. Hyman, Zach
  2. 2020 4th round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
Boychuk puts Toronto on his 8 team list and heads that way in a cap savings move. Lou also picks up Hyman, coming off back to back 21-goal campaigns
TOR
  1. Boychuk, Johnny ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
The Leafs add Boychuk to the left side at a modest cost. NY pays his bonus and picks up his 1.25 salary for the season, leaving just 4 million owed to the veteran RD. Toronto also parts with Hyman's expiring contract as they look for one more blue liner on that side in free-agency. They also net a 3rd round pick and send back one of their fourths
4.
NYI
  1. 2020 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Moments before making his first selection in the draft, Lou makes his fourth and final Draft Day swap by sending Leo Komarov and the 20th overall to the Ottawa Senators in another cap savings move. Dal Colle is also added to the deal in exchange for one of their two third rounders
OTT
  1. Dal Colle, Michael
  2. Komarov, Leo
  3. 2020 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:

It is beyond me how Leaf fans get branded as all delusional when this is the normal nonsense from Islander fans. Leddy worth a 1st, hilarious. Boychuck getting you Hyman? Seriously? All trash, all of this and not remotely close.

Leafs don't want and certainly can't afford Boychuk even at 4.75. Leafs can sign a better UFA at 3.5m...and then trade a winger for assets than take that trade.
Jersey can spend 5.5m on a UFA, keep their pick instead of trading for Leddy.

It's quite simple to understand, he wouldn't be.

Actually that should have read RD where Boychuk has played his entire career and yes, he would be better than much of what they currently have on their roster. Salary wise they would pay him nothing this season, and the cap would be 3.75 million when taking Hyman off. Hyman is entering his contract year and will demand more than either the Leafs are willing to pay. Of course the deal makes sense

Boychuk is worse than Holl, the guy a bunch of people have been trading for next to nothing

boychukholl.png

I don't think having Boychuk playing depth minutes for 5 million is in the best interests for Toronto.

They would be paying him nothing in my trade for 2020-21 and Holl is the only RD you guys currently have for next season who warrants minutes. You will go hard after a top liner I am sure and Boychuk would be penciled in as a veteran presence for 15-17 minutes a game

They could pick up a younger UFA for 4 million to play those minutes and not have to sacrifice Hyman on top of it.

That is 4 million more than what you would be paying Boychuk this season (and anything else past another year).....read slower maybe?

Also, it doesnt have to be Hyman- I suggested him because he is in his final year, coming off back to back 20 goal plus seasons and will be too rich for the Leafs after the season

I'm talking about cap hit. His contract will be 4.75 million against Toronto's cap.

The Leafs aren't hurting for actual money.

Actually 6 minus 2.25 is 3.75 (minus Hyman) and minus 1.25 (Islanders retention) is a 2.5 cap hit.

And all clubs will be hurting with cash flow because of the pandemic....including the Leafs
