I don’t think Detroit does it. If the price for Eriksson is a 1st (or Demko+, or now DiPietro+) then I don’t know if Subban costing more gets us less of a return (or having to give up our 3rd). Devils have the cap space, why trade him? Or retain half and maybe get something?

I think Carolina trades reimer to a financially unstable team for a goalie (ARIZONA)

NJ has cap space so why would they spend assets to get rid of Subban? Is there an internal budget?

Subban isnt really an issue unless they plan on blowing 20million via trades and UFAs this summer. He will be off the books by the time they are a contender, and/or, hughes needs a big contract.

it would be better to get rid of subban now, he's only losing value. They can keep him if they want but as time goes, it's gonna be harder to trade him.

In what way does Jersey need to give up a first rd pick and young winger they just picked up, to get rid of a guy we don't really need to get rid of?
I have no problem moving PK, but its going to be with some retained salary and the assets coming back that will help Jersey sooner than any 3rd or 5th rounder ever will (if they even see the NHL).
If he's such an anchor we can move him with a piece to Seattle, so they can get to the cap floor. PK's salary for the year upcoming is only $2M, his $6M signing bonus has been paid, he's still paid a lot but in actual $s its $6M less as of today. I also disagree that he's losing value. I think if you moved him today yes the value would be less. PK will have a better year than last. He has/had a back injury, new team, and not a great coach to work with. It won't be Montreal PK, but not Year 1 in Jersey PK either. Hows that explanation?
