it would be more than a 4th imo. Zacha has been a big time disappointment.

Buffalo has four second line RDs, I agree that Montour as a 2RD should have much greater value than Zacha who is as this moment a 4th line center, I just don't think Buffalo is going to get full value from Montour in todays conditions - one thing with Zacha is that he's young enough that maybe he could lift his game to 3rd line center after Staal retires.
Let's start by agreeing the trade needs more going to Buffalo.
Second, if Buffalo is not going to get full value for Montour, why would NJ get full value for Zacha?
Third, I am not sure if Montour's value has gone down. Only Ristolainen's TOI was higher, only Scandella's PDO was higher and no skater had a higher +/- or 5 on 5 SV% than he.
Fourth, Montour, Miller, Vesery, Sheary, Rodrigues, Okposo, Hutton and Skinner all suffered playing under Krueger's "System".
Yet the Sabres did worse than last year.
Krueger cost all players with expiring contracts about $1,000,000 per year. Some more, some less.
If Montour had been utilized properly and got his points up to his previous two year production, he would be getting a long term $5,000,000.
Playing for the right coach, he will do that.
Finally, Zacha is not the player that I want for Montour. I want a right handed mid six winger or an equal value LHD.
Conclusion, I pass on this deal.
