While this is an interesting add for the San Jose Sharks, I don't think they would be willing to risk another first round pick if it becomes another lottery pick. The Leafs did that two years in a row and it bit them in the ass for contention.

Oh absolutely -- I should've put in there that I do this deal only if the 1st rounder is top-5 lottery protected.

EDIT: just updated and reflected that condition in the trade proposal.

If Laine wants out, a rebuild would be wise on their part. Ehlers was rumored to be on the trade table last year, but the price was apparently too high. This offer is more than fair and fits what WPG needs in a rebuild.

I wouldn’t say this offer is fair, but you’ll need an overpayment to get Ehlers

If Laine wants out they need to hold onto Ehlers.

If they do trade him it’s for a top 6 center or top 4 LD immediately.
