Does Pietrangelo in Philly make sense

Created by: DH28Hockey

Initial Creation Date: Sep. 20, 2020
Published: Sep. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know that the expansion draft will cause a problem and they need to keep Carter Hart in mind when looking at a long term cap space outlook, but I think for a team looking to compete that has no long term solution at RHD this makes some sense. Thoughts?

First Minni isn't trading a competent goalie for a 4th rounder.
Philly might be about the best destination for Pietrangelo. Good team with cap....relatively close to his home base in St Louis. But UFAs aren't getting so much $$$$ now. Flat cap, and RFAs getting more.
8.5m would probably be the limit of any contract. To go to Philly...a team of his choice....betcha 8m would be enough.

Could be the Brian Campbell add of the Blackhawks dynasty run, would be interesting though to make cap work in next 2/3 seasons. But easier to adjust to anything if there’s some banners to go up.

I love the idea of Pietrangelo coming to Philly I think it sures things up at RD for a long time in the top for and even if they have to pay an expensive price to protect who ever is exposed in expansion I think it's worth it for sure. Only problem I see is that Patrick needs a contract for next season even if he isn't able to play
