Greiss off the ufa pile is my first choice. No assets given up, not too expensive, competent goalie.

For the VAN trade, take out the 3rd and add Roussel to the deal. Then you don't have to sign Matt Martin for 3 years and you save giving up the pick.

I dont understand the WPG deal.. I mean idk i guess the value is ok but why trade down and lose montour for rosolvic?

And Virt is super overrated. I would take a flier on him but i would be adding picks 1v1 for miller/montour is ok even though i think the value is beter for Van than Buf

I like Martin, but I doubt he signs in Buffalo, so that would also work

I disagree with Virtanen. WPG picks 10 so they get the prospect on top of Roslovic to drop back 2

That's fine, we might get demko or someone else, not trading draft picks during this rebuild. So rather have the pick then that goalie

That would be a problem. He has 41 games in the AHL (.908) and 6 in the NHL with a .894 SV%. We need someone a bit better with Bernier. We have Petruzzelli in the NCAA who looked great once he switched his major from mechanical engineering this last year we also have Larsson in the AHL. We can just pickup a UFA this year and draft another goalie like Blomqvist or Bednar with that pick or spend more for Geo/Demko.

Not for a 3rd ROFL. I doubt Vancouver is looking to move him. None of the UFA goalies are going to Detroit either. Detroit would pick up an NHL ready Goalie prospect. Johansson is an NHL ready goalie prospect.

He was in the AHL allstar game last year, with a 2.27 GAA and 0.921 SV%, and you just added in his first 14 professional games, from 3 and 4 years ago, to obfuscate his numbers which have shown clear progression. You dont know anything about Sabres prospects, so dont try to argue his skill, especially because I know for a fact you havent seen him play. Yes every team is dying to give up their proven future starters to Detroit, the NHL is a charity for Original 6 teams. Lundqvist is retiring/bought out - Geo off the board, Why would Vancouver give up Demko - off the board, Why would UFA goalies in the prime or end of their careers want to go to a rebuilding Detroit - that just had one of the worst seasons in League history, Johansson is better than Detroit's prospects and further along, and much further along than anyone Detroit will draft this year.

I can speak when its such a blatantly easy move to make, and the fan base is just acting like children because they for some reason think theyre entitled to every team donating their best players so they can go to the cup finals a year after being atrocious. If you came from a place of logic then maybe but their is no logic in your argument. Yzerman needs a good goalie prospect, preferably young enough to grow with the team, but ready to take on a NHL role. That is Johansson

Not entitled to anything, we just aren't taking cap hits from other teams because they think we have the cap space and the other teams think it's ok to dump our cap hits for free. As in taking a dumb contract that doesn't help us at all like lucic, but take it for fee. I understand that it's not the case here at all, this was just a reply to the entitled part.

As for the pick part, I understand it's a late 3rd which is essentially going to be a 4th which isn't a lot. Picks are also collateral and I like having that right now during our rebuild. We can easily find a backup goalie for free like greiss or something. I will admit, the value is 100% accurate if we were going to accept this trade though
