No chance Winnipeg considers moving Laine for a rental.

We could never do this. We'd need an extension in place and then, maybe.

A year from UFA is way too risky for us.

Who knows with Hamilton? Far too large a gamble for the Jets to take with a young, premier asset.

Even if Hamilton would extend with the Jets I still think I'd pass.

I assume this deal would probably come with extensions for both players, at the very least for Hamilton. I don’t think the value is terrible but I think signing Hamilton is probably the canes priority over dealing him. If they can’t sign him and they can negotiate a deal where he is trade with an extension I wouldn’t hate this.

What are the dollars and term of the extension? It will make a difference to if I would consider Laine or not.

Probably not, I'd just rather watch Laine play hockey then Hamilton.

both would probably make roughly the same, basically just a top 2 Dman for a top liner swap

That would be my feeling as well. Given that this is the third team Hamilton has worn out his welcome on by age 27, is too large a red flag for me. Well, that and being 27 as well. But lots of Jets fans seem to love Hamilton.
