I get the Ceci hate but with him it was always about what he does for his cap hit and the expectations that come with the big contract. Sign me up for a 1yr/1mil flyer with him for the 1-yr bounce-back 6d spot if the organization feels strongly that Merkley's not ready.

Yannick... there's no other way to put it. He's just bad and not worth a roster spot, even at 7d.

Sure with me for cheap short-term deals for Broissoit and Pitlick, ideally 1yr or 2yrs max instead of 3yrs for the latter.

Noted, I made it at two years and also added Leivo

Wanted to get some younger players to fill in the lineup but not rookies. Let them play in AHL since next season is basically a wash anyways. Don’t want to stifle development unless they’re absolutely ready to play.

Ceci has his ups and downs and there aren’t many younger RHD that are cheap. It’s a cheap contract and the kind of player you want to take a chance on if you don’t have much depth. Same with Weber, who really isn’t as bad as many make him out to be.

Kind of though. Evolving hockey (which has a very good contract projection predicting method) says Tim Heed will likely sign for <$1 million, whereas Ceci is at a whopping $4.3 million projection. Now I definitely think that's a stretch, so lets say he actually goes for like $2 million which is well under half of what they predict he'll get.

Most advanced stats and other intangibles point to Heed being the better player both offensively and defensively at at least half the price point.

Well for one.. no way Ceci gets that much or even $2 million. Probably a million at the most and Heed will be lucky to get that. I don’t know why they have them projected at that. I can easily see Heed sign overseas instead.

Two, advanced stats are kind of a joke imo. One of the “bigger” advanced stats guys on Twitter just left Draisaitl, the Hart trophy winner, out of his top five PHWA ballot. Also had McAvoy and Jared Spurgeon (great defenseman, not elite though) in his top five for the Norris. That’s just a really really bad opinion and should tell you that even the people who dive deep into them misinterpret data. No way that Draisaitl gets the Hart and Lindsay, which the players voted, and he’s not even top five according to “advanced stats”.

Advanced stats also said Gudas was underrated. As a Caps fan I can tell you for sure that was wrong. He’s horrible
