According to https://twitter.com/InsideSource20/status/1308133491155111937 there has been a good amount of calls on Mathieu Perrault. He isn't a pure cap dump as everyone is suggesting, he was one of the best third liners in the whole league just two years ago. Boston and Buffalo are teams that have been mentioned to have checked in.
If you think about the teams that could use a guy like that (definitely Chicago, though they probably still can't afford him), and the flat cap hanging around for a bit, just retaining a mil on MP could make a significant increase on the return.
I think if the jets retain 1M, they can get anywhere between a 3rd and a 7th pretty easily. Perreault is the type of player contenders like to sign. Gritty, versatile, and feisty. Checks off al or if boxes for a 3rd liner. Much like how the pens overpaid for Tanev, some team might do it here
When you have to point 2 years back to when a player was a "good third line" player that's your problem right there. From Buffalo I'll give you Hutton and Pilut, no way we take on 4 mil without giving you back something

I could still see something like that. Perrault is probably getting a million overpaid, he still is a good bottom six guy to have
He's fallen the last couple of years but I think that might be a bit of Maurice's fault as he dropped Perreault down to the 4th line when he really should've been on the 3rd line, ****ing Maurice can't make a line that works for his life and when he stumbles into something that works due to injury he breaks it up!
