Do the AVS have the best future

Created by: Josh4
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2020

Description
This team is without makng any trades and one UFA signing and it still looks unreal! The LTIR are RFAs I'm not sure if Sakic will keep long term and can be traded. Does Coloardo have the best future in the NHL?

They just need a stud goalie.

Honeslty goaltending is not bad at all I think there two goalies are good enough to win a cup with the team in front of them. But I agree its there weakest position.

Goalies aren't good enough. Lots of UFAs to chose from in the coming offseason. Let's see which of those goalies want to win.

they have one of the better goalie prosepcts in the league in Annunen In the prospect pool as well, he has number 1 goalie potential. Could be the goalie for the future already in the fold

And even if he doesn't become like a top 10 G, the randomness of the goaltending position+the loaded team in front of him really allows like any decent goalie the potential to go on a run in the playoffs, I'd much rather pay the 20-25th best goalie 3 mil than pay a top 10 G 8-10 mil, as long as I'm adding good players at a less volatile position with that 5+ mil

My thought process exactly. I'd perfer two decent goalies over one top 5 goalie.

Not bad balance and cap management but I'm not sold on Namestnikov. He isn't bad but I just don't know about him. Also think he's going to ask for more but, in a flat cap world, he might not be able to get it. We'll see if Timmins health holds up. Zadorov isn't signing for that little - his QO will be about 5 times that. I'm not sure if a 4th line checking role is right for Newhook; I'd rather see Compher traded or picked by Seattle then put Newhook into that 3C role; he'll slide into 2C when Kadri is gone. Foligno is redundant - why not put Nuke in that spot? And I'd rather have Jost in than O'Connor - more offensive upside with Jost.

The LTIR guys like zadorov aren't parnt of the team, i just don't know if there in the teams future. I think Namestnikov is a good fit for the avs and can play on any line. I agree with newhook but not sure how the seatle expansion will work out. Also don't know if Nichuskin will be on the avs, heard he wanted a lot of money.

Think there's one well set up team in every division. Vancouver, Colorado, NYR, Ottawa. Vancouver just needs to stop overpaying bottom 6ers and they'll be nasty. Been saying that since the Duchene trade. (Not the Ottawa part, I enjoyed their tirefire season)

I think Nuke is going to have to take what he can get - there are plenty of established bottom six guys that can be had for $2-2.5 so he should be careful what he asks for because he can be replaced. But if all he cares about is getting paid, then more power to him.

It's an adage as old as time- don't pay for saves.

Look no further than Bobrovsky with Florida versus Korpisalo with Columbus. Or the Canadians spending a ton on price but still needing to bring in another goaltender to shore up the position versus Carolina spending less than half that on their tandem and having similar success in net. Goaltending is too voodoo to spend any more than 6 on a single goaltender and 8 on the position as a whole.

Just was general comment about avs goalies, feels like a hit of an echo chamber comment by people who want to chime in but don’t have any idea.

Current avs goalies have been good, just were hurt and in the system for future goalies have some good ones. Goalies are random so to simply say they won’t win with those goalies is a lazy comment.

Like you said, if you have a good team and league average goaltending you can win, currently avs have that
