Nemeth has some value as a depth defencemen to a contending team at the deadline.

As a Red Wings fan I don’t want to contend yet. We need another 2 years at least of high draft picks. The prospect pool still isn’t very deep - we have hope for some guys but no clear super stars in the making.

I guess if you think signing a bunch of FAs is the way to go, I guess this works.

You forgot about Hronek though, you have him in the AHL.

Both Bertuzzi and Mantha get slightly more, Signing those 4 UFAs is a major pipdream only realistic one i see is Torey Krug neither Hall or Pietrangelo are wasting their times on a rebuilding Red Wings club. 50/50 of signing Jacob Markstrom.

Zadina, Seider, Hronek, and 4 OA this year all look good. Veleno, McIsaac still need work, but both should be regular NHLers if all goes well. I’m hesitant with McIsaac until he plays a pro season and we can see what he can do. Cholowski is falling towards bust in terms of where he was drafted, but I think he’ll see regular ice time eventually, just not top pairing. Luckily Hronek was taken that same year.

But of those guys, who’s elite? Maybe Zadina? 4OA if we’re lucky? Seider I hope one day. Others might be solid pieces, but no clear star player. It is decent, but we need a super star still IMO

With Nemeth he is 1 of 2 NHL defenseman Detroit currently has the other is DeKeyser. Cholowski hasn't done anything yet to earn him a spot and Mcisaac is a couple years away after shoulder surgery. Plus when you have shoulder surgery you really don't get back to 100% and it's likely he will have surgery again.

Contending with a winger as a 2nd line center, I guess we'll just leave hronek in the ahl. We'll just spend a bunch of money and see what happens.
