Bennett is more valuable than Kerfoot imo. CGY should not be giving up a 3rd as well

If Kerfoot is worth a 3rd, how does adding Bennett, the more valuable player, make sense lol

Bennett is inconsistent (although clutch in the playoffs). If Calgary is looking for an upgrade and believes in Kerfoot's potential > Bennett's, and like the consistent cap hit of Kerfoot, they'll go for it.

Leafs going for Bennett addresses the high-energy guy they need, and is more of a "gamble".

Bc the Leafs got the 15oa pick and a solid prospect for a 40 point winger lol

Bennet had a down season, but did bounce back in the playoffs. However the facts still suggest Kerfoot is the better player as Bennet does bring more grit but has yet to hit the 30 point mark while Kerfoot has hit the 40 point mark twice already. Fair trade imo

I'd say drop the pick. Bennett for Kerfoot is imo straight up a decent deal. CGY gets a bit more stable player on their own and TOR saves around a million in cap and receives an asset with a decent playoff history. Could be a win-win.

I'm hard pressed to believe that Bennett is more valuable than Kerfoot.

Which is exactly why I made this post. Bennet is worth a 2nd, kerfoot I would say a 2nd and 3rd. Still plays a gritty game, not as much as Bennet but is skilled fast and produce.

Fans from both sides over rate their players and underrate the other.

Kerfoot is more skilled faster/better skater and produces better. He is also a better C.

    I valued them at kerfoot 2nd + 3rd Bennet 2nd.

Kerfoot is dangerously underrated on this site due to his lack of production this season. Moved to basically 3 teams. AVs Babs and then Keefe leafs.

I like both teams. Kerfoot would not only be more productive but he would make the entire line more productive.

Leafs would save a bit of cap and get a player with a bit more grit.

Leafs don’t want to make the trade because our bottom 6 disappeared in the playoffs and shouldn’t give up the production.

Flames don’t like the trade because he is a fan favourite well liked by the organization

He isn’t, that’s the point of this post.

He’s also not worth a ton less like most leafs fans rate him.

Bennet retained and a 2nd for Johnsson won’t fly.

I think kerfoot offers a lot of that too. He would fit in well with the flames and gets under the skin of players. Bennet offers the big hits... sometimes at inopportune moments lol.

Also wanted to mention that I did flip flop around on the pick between a third and a fourth.

That just all depends on how you evaluate kerfoot and Bennet.

I look at it as a 25+ point player for a 40+ point player who both bring something different to each team but also help to replace what the other did.

I will keep the $1M in cap space and all of the intangibles that Bennett brings to the table over the 10 or so points a year upside I get with Kerfoot.

It’s about 15+ and creates more offence on the entire line.

Kerfoot does have a digging and grindy ability as well, that much is certain. Bennett may still have unrealized potential (I'm still holding out to some extent), but it's the lower cap hit of Bennett and his ability to go up and down the lineup that'd be the kicker for me.

Like, Kerfoot can play on lines 2 or 3. But I'd just feel bad if I had to throw Kerfoot on the 4th line, whereas I could totally throw Bennett on an energy line and it'd be A-Ok.
