Petro hogberg

Created by: GenXHockey
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2020
Published: Sep. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hogberg, because we missed out on Demko when his value was low. Hogberg has been hidden behind an outmatched Ottawa team. He’s big with good position and can use his athleticism. Tandem between the two should give us what we need with the possibility to change at TDL.

I’m sure this one will bring hate from all angles....

Granted hogberg isn’t going to have a breakout playoff in Ottawa he has been very good facing some outlandish shots.

Campbell has been very good when called upon. Would like to see him get a 50% share.

The realism here is probably less than 0%.

Johnsson and kerfoot are both being shopped to fit petro. I don’t like what that does to our offensive depth.

I wouldn’t be surprised if dubas is evaluating some players over seas right now. Looking for at least a 3c. Maybe he believes engvall can assume the role but he’s smart enough to have a backup plan.

Personally I feel if he gets Pietrangleo, I will be Nylander that is at the front of the line to leave. The top 6 still stays great and they get space. This allows KErfoot to stay (i really like KErf)

That is a 100% no.

He’s already made that much quite clear.

Lebrun has already reported that dubas is shopping both kerfoot and Johnsson to make room for petro.

Dubas has also stated with zero caveats that nylander will not be moved. And trust me. If there were any calls coming in or out about nylander everyone and their dog would know.

So there are 3 options. 4 if you count the “never would have thought of that” move that dubas usually dies and probably will... or

1. Sign petro add a proven goalie or keep Freddy lose all forward depth
2. Sign petro add a cheap goalie with starter potential to tandem with Campbell and keep your forward depth

3. Sign a ufa like Demelo keep some of your forward depth forget about petro and pretend like he isn’t that good anyway.

Edit* my own caveat: if Dubas gets an offer he can’t refuse for nylander he will move him.
MMXD liked this.

If Leafs can get Petro signed, think moving Johnsson, Holl, and Andersen and finding cheap tandem option in goal line you have here is likely option. Also would consider moving Nylander to. West team that misses out on Hall for haul of premium picks and prospects. I’d keep Kerfoot as 3C and go bargain vet hunting to fill out rest of bottom 6… hopefully Martin back for cheap. Start season with Dermott on right side top 4, if he flourishes, great, if he doesn’t can move him as part of trade looking to upgrade. Not giving Robertson, Sandin, and Liljegren spots unless they force Leafs to keep them on big club in during camp/preseason.

Robertson is on the team here because at this point he has no where else to go.

If the ohl doesn’t get going and they relax the chl rules to let him play over seas that is an option.

I feel like at some point Ottawa is going to want players instead of more picks. They already have 7 picks over the first 2 rounds this year.

The OHL season is currently set to start before NHL season is so shouldn’t be too much of issue. But if he proves in camp and pre season that he deserves to stay, then awesome I’m all for it.

My bad, last I checked they didn’t release any dates yet.
