Don't think Taylor Hall wants to sign with San Jose. He wants to win.

Big no from Toronto, only considered if 50% retained due to cap. Not saying Kane is not an upgrade for Leafs, but just doesn't make sense for a team looking to add D.

@HabsFan77 @RawZuccSauce420 @Lyle_Bubas fair enough on Hall, DW can spread out that 8m dough for Craig+Fast instead or distribute it elsewhere, that's probably the safer bet. Mainly wanted to show how a Kane for #15 overall + Johnsson base deal would look like.

EDIT: took out the Hall signing and replaced it with Smith and Fast.

What makes you think Toronto can afford Kane

They can't. They'd only be able to if they move Marner, which I think they need to not bc I think Marner's not worth it -- he's not -- but it'd be a manageable cap hit relative to all that he brings IF Toronto didn't have two other players making 10.8+mil a season. They should trade Marner for Seth Jones or something and free up cap that way, then do this deal.

But I mean would a team like Columbus really do that? That's the problem.

Trades like that happen sometimes. NSH moved Jones for Johansson, could happen again by CBJ for Marner.

Sorry what I mean is Columbus doesn't have a ton of depth behind Jones and Werenski. Yes that top pairing can log maybe up to 30 minutes of ice a night, but if you trade Jones you next best option is Savard, who is coming off a down year and who only has one year left on his deal.

Oh, I see what you're saying. That makes sense... maybe they find depth in FA but that's not reliable ands adds to the unlikeliness of it all.
