Based on Bruins Rumours

Created by: Canucks33
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 22, 2020
Published: Sep. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Based on the rumours that the Canucks and Bruins were talking about a deal.

Is this a decent structure for a deal? Who would have to add?
Trades
VAN
  1. Carlo, Brandon
  2. Kase, Ondrej
Additional Details:
The Bruins get some scoring for their second line. Krejci is a playmaking center that could work well with a high IQ scorer like Boeser. Losing Carlo hurts, but there are options through trade (Severson, Dumba, Manson, etc) or FA (DeMelo, Braun, Dillon, etc) to replace his minutes. The Bruins will have the cap space to have options either way after addressing an organizational need.
BOS
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. Stecher, Troy [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
The Canucks address their organizational need for a young RHD who can play with Hughes. Carlo is a perfect fit for the team, but would cost a lot to acquire. Losing Boeser hurts our scoring and would suck as a fan favourite and Pettersson's best friend, but we have other young forwards coming and Pettersson can play with anyone.

I gotta think you can do better than Carlo if you're moving stetcher and boeser.

add Virtanen and it checks basically every box for both team. Dont want to trade Carlo but would make the Bs a fun team to watch. Bs probably add a bit with Virt

It would be a mistake trading Boeser for someone like Carlo.

How is stecher's play? Like i'm not sure he would fit in BOS, so maybe make him a 3rd or 2nd Instead?

Pulock would be the ideal target, but he is worth a bit more I think. I'm not sure we could make it work with Boeser as the main piece.

My original trade was a 3rd instead of Stetcher, I just included Stetcher to provide a RHD since you would be losing one.

Carlo was Boston's best defenseman in their cup run. Very underrated for how well he plays defensively. Would be a perfect partner for Hughes similar to Krug who he has played with thus far.

That might of been it, but I'm not sure there's anything I'd want from Boston besides one of their young defensemen. I don't think Virtanen for Carlo would work, but I'd be ecstatic if it did.

Trading for players based on a sample of 22 games is exactly how GMs get fired

Yea he would cost more to acquire overall I think. He is an all around #1 type of defenseman while Carlo is a defensive specialist.

I don't think Carlo is involved from what I've heard it's Virtanen+ for DeBrusk

Well he's been dominant defensively beyond that. The only rough patch he has had was the first 20 games of his sophomore year (sophomore slump) and the bubble, but none of the Bruins besides Marchand and Coyle were on top of their games in the bubble. And Carlo for virtanen is a crazy ask bt the Canucks. They would def need to add.

I wouldn't really want to trade for DeBrusk. He's a very straight line player and I think he needs a really good center to play with in order to be effective. Not saying he wouldn't have that in Vancouver, but the defensemen are more appealing.

Hes very good defensively, i dont dispute that. But defensive specialists dont cost a lot on the open market. TVR has similar defensive metrics and would cost them a modest contract.

Well, I think carlo is a lot better than TVR, but I see your point. But I think the league and the GM's have turned towards overpaying to fit their needs.

If you want soneone who will just stay at home and babysit Hughes then Carlo is a good choice. Its been basically his job next to krug in Boston. I like the deal honestly.

I don't see them being good trade partners because Boston doesn't have pieces of value they could realistically send you. Bruins cannot afford to lose Carlo. If you wanna trade Boeser, I'll offer you one of Risto, Miller, Montour, a 2021 lottery protected 1st, your choice of Thompson, Asplund, or Borgen, and 38th OA

I’d rather have Rafferty coming back instead of Stecher. B’s can add Ritchie or Bjork if need be.

No interest at all in Stecher. Last thing they need is more undersized , mediocre d men.

I don’t know if this rumor is true but a Quinn-Carlo combo is what you’d call a perfect pairing. Boeser is the best player in the deal but from an organizational perspective Quinn-Carlo combo is more valuable than a Brock Boeser if that makes sense. Quinn-Carlo and the Canucks are set for the next decade at defense.

Well you could trade for his career +57 while averaging 20+ minutes a night since being a 19 year old
