Don’t roast me for this. Just combined his ideas lol. Don’t think it’s fair at all. Rangers must add like a prospect

I just took the trade from a leafs fans post. Don’t judge me I’m the messenger of their trades into a Godzilla trade

I wasn’t. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that they are going to keep the 8th overall pick.

agreed. Have a nice day. i think the closest the value could be is deangelo and a 2022 2nd + 4th for 8th overall, or at least thats the highest i think the rangers go.

I really don't get the rational behind the Chicago trade.

The Kings have a great prospect pool of good but not exceptional players. Kings need an exceptional prospect which I see as: Shestyorkin, Fox, or Kakko and they need to add on top of that. In summation, the Rangers and Kings will not be making a trade for the 2nd overall.

The players available at 8th, 15th and 22nd are likely going to pale in comparison to Byfield and Stutzle. It’s going to take an absolute jaw-dropping deal to get Blake to trade out of the top three.

I agree somewhat with both of you. However, i do believe that since this draft is very deep, and at 8th overall, you may have someone like perfetti, rossi, etc. and acquiring a 1a/b prospect in robertson with a potential starting goalie in goegiev while also dumping a bad contract does sweeten the deal. 3 firsts in this draft are very solid and i, though with bias, do believe the trade is fairly close. maybe not spot on but close

I have a question. Isn't maata your likely buyout candidate? isnt he atrocious on defense? I thought that this trade gives the hawks a 3rd and a decent middle 6 center while also swapping dmen

If that was from an actual Leaf fan and not just a post from someone who made a Leafs ACGM, that fan is an idiot. It is just silly. Strome is a) not remotely worth that much and b) who would ever spend that much for a 3C?

Stall's cap hit is 1.7 mil higher which the hawks can't afford. We can buyout maata for 680k vs paying staal 5.7 mil. Howden is terrible and wouldn't play over toews, dach, strome, kampf at Center in chicago. A 3rd isn't worth the difference in cap hits

fair point. thanks for the clarification from your perspective. what would the rangers add to sweeten the deal? say a 2nd on top?

I could see a trade like this happening:

To NY:
#2 OA (Byfield)
#35 OA

To LA:
Kakko
#22 OA

NY gets the center they want, LA gets a #2OA winger. Scouts nearly unanimously agree that Byfield has a higher ceiling than Kakko, hence the swapping of the #22 & #35 picks.

Short of that, there's no trade that is going to happen between LA and NY involving the #1 or #2 picks.

When you’re discussing trading away a player that has drawn hefty comparisons to Evgeni Malkin (it’s no secret that I’m leaning towards wanting Byfield at 2nd overall), the only pieces of interest consist of the 8th overall and Matthew Robertson.

I like Robertson, but the Kings already have a handful of LD prospects as is, nor is he someone I’d be willing to cough up the 2nd pick for in a trade. If there’s a smaller deal the Kings would make with New York (say, Iafallo or Roy to the Rangers), then yes I’d definitely be willing to discuss him being the return.

If the Kings were to acquire Georgiev, they’re left with 3 NHL goaltenders, one of which would have to be put on waivers. Kings are going to surely run the Cal Peterson experiment (with Quick as mentor) before they look to bring in a new goalie.

If you have the athletic is a really good story to read to understand what is up with Maatta. If you don't, here's the short a skinny

For the first half of the season he was bad, like really bad.

For the second half, after being paired with KoekKoek, both were really good, in fact even lights out from an advanced stats POV.

Moving him would be about getting a decent asset and cap space, honestly I wouldn't mind keeping both him and KoeKKoek in some capacity.

Buffalo declines. Even if we needed RD, it would be Brett Pesce type, not Deangelo.
