Not completely unfeasible

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade from DH28Hockey - https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1943999. Less interested in the trade details as is and more in how feasible it would be to add “a big piece”.

Assumptions:
1. This is a longer term Dubois signing - I suspect it could be closer to $6Mx3 if he’d prefer a bridge to hopefully escape COVID uncertainty.
2. I think I’ve over-estimated Gavrikov slightly.
3. If Korpi is traded I think we do VV as backup, not Kivlenieks
4. Dubinsky doesn’t have a miraculous recovery and remains on LTIR
5. (The big one) Texier is a capable 2C and Torts is able to keep him there and not get too twitchy about mistakes or growing pains.

In this scenario, we’d need to clear some cap. The best way would be either Wennberg brought out and/or a D trade for picks. We’d be running close to the wire depending on where Dubois comes in (if he’s more expensive, we’d really need a D for picks and no salary trade).

I haven’t made any trades or buy outs apart from the initial so we could get a look at where we stand in this kind of scenario. If Wennberg is brought out, Foudy comes up to learn centre on the third line. Bemstrom stays in the AHL unless Grigorenko fails / we have injuries and he can get a solid stretch on at least the third line.

I love all the Flyers love tonight. Would hate to see Voracek go, but I think PHI would take this trade in a second

You’re almost 3 mil over the cap already..... also where are you going to get the room for players like Bjorkstrand, Texier, Werenski, Jones, and others in the next 4 years..... Columbus 100% doesn’t make this trade.

I don’t think it’s impossible, but it would definitely lead to hard choices in the future. If they genuinely believed a trade for an expensive wing was worth it, they’d get it done. The advantage is that it’s a lot easier to get a LW in trade than a 2C - I doubt we get one for the price we’d be willing to pay.

This is really more of a thought exercise, though. I liked using this trade because it’s at the extreme in terms of cap hit we’d probably take on.

If we are going for a LW, I’d rather go for Gaudreau, much lower cap hit and his contract doesn’t figure to be a cap dump by the end of it....
