I like the idea of adding Tierney but I wouldn't want to replace him with Gaudette. I'd also want nothing to do with Hornqvist's contract

Getting rid of that terrible Eriksson contract is going to cost a lot more than that and taking back a big contract in Horny with how awful Vans cap situation is, is flat out insane

I don't think it's gonna cost as much as people think. From what I've heard it may only cost Virtanen to move him

I would be flat out shocked if that would be true and would be highly skeptical of those who you heard that from.

One thing to remember is Eriksson only owed $5 million total over the next two seasons. Lots of teams are operating with internal caps (Ottawa included) so the big contract isn’t that big of deal when you consider actual cost.

Still will obviously cost a lot to dump him but I think a first and 2 good young RFA’s for a slightly older good RFA and a third is fair.

Canucks 3rd line got caved in 5 on 5 last year. This line would perform far better. Agreed that the contract is awful, maybe the Canucks could send money back the other way too, but the idea is a good 2 way player to play on the third line that can move into the top 6 next year when Pearson goes UFA

that is a valid point, it'll be interesting to see what happens there.

another thing we've been hearing is mutual termination, assuming eriksson can find himself a spot to play for the tune of 2-2.5 mill per season for a couple seasons.

Gaudette massively improved this year I think trading him ends up being a massive mistake, but you do you.

I agree with the OP, i think tierney is a massive upgrade for the 3rd line center role that gaudette has been playing. They have similar 5v5 stats but tierney plays the pk which is vital given that most of the top six don't PK

I'm not saying you don't bring in Tierney I would just replace Gaudette in the trade with something else

True, but if you trade for tierney he fills Gaudette's spot. The only place for him to go would be the wing in a 3rd line scoring (not checking) role, so you might as well trade him if tierney is your guy

OTT should accept. I think thats pretty fair value.

Stetcher and a pick (as suggested in another comment) would also suffice. I think OTT could give you Zucker-esque top 15 protection on the 1st
