Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2020
Published: Sep. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trading away Kaut as i dont see him breaking our line up in the next few years with how oconner played in the play offs, same reasoning for bowers as newhook will be coming next season and i dont want to bury him on the 4th line. Timmins trading away as his concussion history is to scary. Grubabuer with the same situation but his groin.

Winnipeg is in need of defence so i traded 2 defence prospects along with compher to fill ehlers gap

Detroit and howard are going separate ways, they are in need of a new goalie and have pics to spare.

AZ is in tank now mode, jost can be flipped for picks and it gives them a previously 1st rounder in kaut, a strong backup goalie to Raanta and some additional picks

Signed granlund to a contract as i can see his stats improving due to a change in scenary.

I think its time for Annunen to get some starts aswell as he has been killing it overseas.

All these changes will allow for landeskog and makar to get pay raises next year with room to spare

Too much for Kuemper

TML doesn’t need another LHD

WPG decline, that’s quantity over quality ( Bowers Timmins are the main parts but doesn’t help them right away )

DET decline, they aren’t giving picks for Grubauer, they are fine with Bernier

If you want Ehlers its going to be a stud like Byram and not a bunch of ok pieces.

Red wings aren't going to give up valuable picks for a goalie they don't need. They can easily sign a stop gate goalie as a UFA. Also, apparently they are showing heavy interest in Markstrom which I think is crazy but whatever.

Detroit declines. We do need a goalie right now but we can sign a slightly worse goalie that’s still a competent stopgap in free agency for free. You mentioned that we have picks to spare which is true but it would be pointless for us to gut our roster to acquire extra picks just to turn around and trade those picks for other players that don’t necessarily fit into our future.

Kati’s a better prospect than LOC, I bet it’s part of the reason LOC’s 1st yr of his new deal is 2 way. Don’t put any stick into the fact that LOC was playing in the playoffs and Kaut wasn’t, the Avs were determined to not burn a year on his ELC and didn’t have him in the bubble for that very reason.

Totally overpaid for Kuemper. Zadorov is about right. Underpaid for Ehlers. Grubauer is an effective goalie - go look at his numbers; you don't want to bring in a guy like Annunen and have his first NA experience be as an NHL backup plus burn his ELC.

Your assessment of Kaut is pretty off-base. And comparing him to LOC is silly. LOC was fine in the few games he played but he's a 4th-line grinder, not a potential 2nd or 3rd line guy (Kaut is a former 1st rounder and is only 20, LOC is 24 and an undrafted FA). Kaut has far more upside than LOC and I fully expect him to be in the lineup next year. The only reason he hasn't played much is so he can reach his potential without chewing up his ELC while guys like Nieto played out their much more pricey contracts. Now that Nieto is gone, Kaut is going to be on the team next year.
