7th round, 207th overall pick. Congrats on making it to the show for him, and what a pick by the Habs that late.

Also for those who don't know, first year is two way, second year is one way contract.

2 two way for the first year, 1 way for the second year it seems.

He could potentially be the 4th line center this year, but Bergevin might look at free agency for a veteran center. That said, he was good last year and a well deserved contract!

Would I be too optimistic to believe that he could have a career similar to Nate Thompson? He seems strong defensively he can man the 4th line and if necessary can probably step up into a 3rd line role for stints he won't be a star or flashy pickup for any team but will usually be a solid pickup and could be in the league for 10ish years.

Probably better, he’s better offensively than Thompson

Nah, he won’t come back, since Edmundson stole his number. 😜

Great 2-way 4C. It makes sense that it’s a two way contract this year, but he’ll probably stay the full year in the NHL as the full time 4C (who can slot in higher in the lineup with injuries). He’ll be especially valuable as a cheap and versatile (he can play all 3 forward positions) depth forward in 21-22, assuming that he doesn’t get chosen by Seattle.

Good discipline and IQ brought him to an NHL spot.

Nearly impossible to guess his offence potential since he is always improving.

Transforming a 7th into a 3rd line center would be spectacular.

The smart move might be to return him to the AHL most of next year to keep him "under the radar" from Seattle scouts... #takemeteandshutup

I followed him as soon as he signed with Laval and was hoping for a three year extension but thought he'd ask for closer to 1M so extremely happy by this signing!
His ceiling's still a two way third line center for anyone wondering, IQ and defensive awareness are good and on the other side of the ice he doesn't mind giving good hits and is a puck hunter (a little bit like young Gallagher, not the bigger but constantly moving). More likely he slots in as our defensive 4C but I wouldn't be shocked if he earn a spot as a steady 3RW before his contract's up if he keep working hard.

I expect/hope that Seattle will take whoever plays on the right side of the 3rd pairing this year. (Whether that’s Fleury, Mete, Kulak, or Juulsen) Or they could pick Edmundson, but that wouldn’t be smart.

Let’s just hope Seattle needs D.

I’d be willing to bribe ‘em, especially if we have hella picks like we do this year

Fantastic signing. He got ice over vets like Weise and Weal in the playoffs, which says a lot, since CJ loves vets on the fourth line. Great that we got him this cheap, you gotta feel for the dude. 7th round to NHL is a long road, and he nailed it

Rumours are floating around that he wants to resign in Philly.

Which makes sense, since he’d have his 4C spot secured, while I don’t know if he would in MTL (because of Evans). Plus Philly is a better team and closer to a cup.

Not so sure about the better team and closer to the cup. I personally thought that Montreal was the better team in their 6 game series in pretty much every game. But man do we need to address our lack of goal scoring.... it is the single biggest thing holding this team back. IMO
