lmfao what? If anything this trade is bad for the Canes and the devils should be adding and giving to Carolina.

Devils decline the first trade a prospect and a second not enough close and you want retained salary

From a Leafs perspective, adding Matt Murray is yucky. He's a real risk.

Yes the blueline is better but that's significant cost. I don't want to see Dubas trade one of the big 4 this year. If things are bad again next year, then try it but I think it's too soon to break those guys up (they've only had Tavares for 2 years, one of which was a pandemic-induced cluster****).

Why would we trade 25 goals for 8 goals?

And why would we retain on either player? Sevs is on a very team friendly deal, and Palms has 1 year left.

The only team here that this trade is fair to is the Canes.

its a three way trade though? If it was just 2 team trade with the devils and leafs then sure. But all 3 teams are involved. You have to look at the bigger picture of the trade

I still think they get better value for the 2 and don’t end up with a bad contract in dezingel

its not really a bad contract. He just had a down year and the contract ends next season. If anything, he is just valueless.

I mean thirteenth overall in a very good draft is pretty high value. Maybe i am just seeing this trade wrong

It’s not a trade I’d make still need vets to play with the young devils core I could see making them available at the deadline and see if I could get a first and some top level prospect back same as they did last yr but I see them more important to development
But that’s my take and the deal might make other fans happy.
