He’s not that bad that he can’t play in the AHL. Plus it seems like enforcer-type players have more perceived value in the AHL than they do in the NHL.

I voted No. Just hope Nashville doesn't need him with the big club.

Well technically he isn't. This is a two way contract and more than likely will be playing full time in the AHL if there is a AHL season. Plus he played decent for the Admirals when they plucked him from the Habs. Good AHL depth in my opinion.

The Habs are wonderful at using their first round picks. I think the best ever selection was Louis Leblanc in 2009 18th overall, oh maybe McCarron 25th overall in 2013. Best scouting department in all of the NHL.

Yeah, but they’ve been pretty bad for most of that time, picking Caufield, Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Sergachev, and Juulsen just sunk the organization. Not to mention picking bums like Romanov and Norlinder in the later rounds. #FireTrevorTimmins

I can give credit where credit is due. Lately the Canadiens have been much better drafting but the scouting staff/department went through a long period of huge misses.

If it was anything less than League minimum, it would have been a bad contract.

Hey, don’t forget Ryan McDonagh, Montreal Legend in 2007, thanks again for him by the way.

he is not wrong you know. Pre 2014 the Habs couldn't see talent if it was right in their face.

That was mostly with the previous regime, and even if you include them, the habs have hit with their firsts more often than they’ve missed.

2013
55th Overall Artturi Lehkonen 291 GP 54G 53A 107P
86th Overall Sven Andrighetto 216 GP 31G 52A 83P

Let's also not forget about Martin Reway who was looking promising until he was diagnosed with a serious Heart condition.

2012
3rd Overall Alex Galchenyuk 549 GP 135G 185A 320P --> Max Domi, Montreal got the most production out of the draft with this pick.
33rd Overall Sebastian Collberg --> Thomas Vanek 18 GP 6G 9A 15P
64th Overall Tim Bozon --> Jonathan Racine --> Nikita Nesterov 13 GP 1G 4A 5P
122nd Overall Charles Hudon 125 GP 14G 27A 41P

Nothing spectacular with these picks, but the assets we received from these drafts weren't half bad.

The 2012 draft was crap though. At least they didn’t pick Reinhart.

Read my comment. Galchenyuk turned into Domi. Montreal got the most production from that pick than any other pick in the draft.

Keep in mind with all of those picks: All late-round, not extremely scouted.

The late picks is where Elite Scouting shines. Anybody can hit on a top 10 pick...

None of Rielly/Forsberg/Lindholm have given more point production to their teams than Montreal got from the Galchenyuk + Domi trade
