NHL Network confirms AP27 camp is high

Created by: Shylo_Moxii
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 23, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NHL Network stated Pietrangelo camp says the starting offer must be 11.5M Which is ridiculous for multiple reasons. He doesn't play amazing he's good but last year's performance doesn't put him a penny over 9 Mill. He is already 30 so the decline could happen just as quick as Doughty and Karlsson. Flat Cap prohibits this kind of thing because no one has 11.5M laying around.

Yeah, just to watch him go down the drain in performance, and they are even more screwed for the next 7 years.

11.5 is high

from what I heard blues have a new offer for him 8 for 8

Now from lebrun reports leafs are also prepare to give him 8 for 7 and within 2 years he would get 2 12 mill bonuses. He showed what a potential contract could look like on the leafs side and man would pitrangelo be making that cash money

I think a 7 year deal at $9M is perfect. How do you complain with that?

Wrong. Pietrangelo would enter Toronto. Blues have CP55 untouchable now that AP27 is gone.

7 years. He's already 30 years old look at Karlsson and Doughty they fell off the deep end could be much of the same thing with Pietrangelo. It's not so much the dollar amount it's the term. But with a lesser term comes a lesser dollar amount.

11.5 is crazy but the early leaks were how the Blues were lowballing etc...

If true than we know why the Faulk deal happened

Leafs won’t be doing that... neither will the blues. Have fun vegas lol.

Blues aren't signing him. They told him to walk, and even if we did Bozak, Steen, (Allen already gone) makes 14 Million. So Parayko would still stay in St.Louis.

Ok but also look at Giordano, Suter, and Weber. It could be much of the same thing with Pietrangelo there. Those guys are more similar to how he plays anyway.

I really don't buy this 11.5 number thing. I believe Beast Mode, but whoever said that on NHL Network has to be misinformed. All of the reports have Pietrangelo just around nine and the blues just around eight.

A lot of the squabbling seems to be about contract structure. They want Pietrangelo to agree to a below market AAV and then work out how the contract will be structured- whether it will have signing bonuses and such. If the organization is a bit cash strapped, as a lot of the organizations are, committing to those bonuses could be problematic (look at the Coyotes right now). However, signing bonuses are key for a player to accepting a below market deal- they inherently offer buyout and trade protection, especially now. Player will also be seeking to get a lot of that money upfront, and maybe the Blues can't do that.

Don't forget he wanted to stay in st.louis so that might be a discounted offer.

Well if you did hear he told media he wanted to stay in St.Louis, never called him a chump but if you want to assume he’s worth more than Panarin, Matthews, Marner, Tavares, only one he is under is McDavid sure you can believe it. Army told him to walk because he wanted to much, okay then. If he wants too much he wants too much, but I doubt Toronto gets him. There is a difference between you thinking Parayko for Johnsson Dermott and a 1st making all of your spare parts worth Gretzky being a homer and saying he’s not signing with Toronto because you would be dumb spending over 43 Million on 4 players bud.
