MAX CAP

Created by: SweetRevenge19
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 19, 2020
Published: Sep. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
-Weaponize cap space returning high end picks and winger prospects not 2nds and meh prospects, or don’t do it, Yzerman takes hard stance.
-Draft Rossi adding to center prospects.
-Sell any/all rentals Nemeth, Filppula, Helm, Glendening, and Bernier for picks at trade deadline. Regain some flexibility with those contracts plus 2.8M in buyouts coming off books.
-2021 offseason buyout Hickey. Resign Hronek to bridge deal. Resign other RFA’s Cholo, Givani, Ras, Geno. Sign Glendening cheap. Sign backup goaltender.
-2021 draft Dman/BPA early then hopefully draft G Jesper Wallstedt.
-Regain major flexibility 2022 offseason with Nielsen, DeKeyser, Boychuk and Eriksson all coming off books together.
*(If Vancouver does this, then maybe it’s with intent to keep Markström vs spending more on D/Wing.. If so Wings sign a different goalie)

These trades are a bit much, but if DET gets their hands on one or two prospects that project to be good NHLers by taking on some cap dumps, I wonder if that affects who they pick in the draft. With the players you received in trade here, I wonder if it makes them lean towards Drysdale. Having said that, I don't see either of these deals being accepted by the other team.

dumping eriksson with 2 1st round quality assets? not sure if i would take that as the canucks although i understand where the wings would be coming from on this one. the two replacement-level players coming back dont do much for me

Take out Hickey and Wahlstrom, change to Bellows/Wilde/Salo/Iskhahov, and you have a deal.

Boychuk, Salo, Iskhakov & the 2021 1st for Erne or Hirose more palatable?

I meant one of Salo or Iskhahov, not both. If you throw in a 3rd I guess I'd do it.

The idea is Eriksson costing a 1st + quality prospect of 2nd round value. I understand the price being hard to swallow for fans, but IMO that’s what it would take and teams should say no to anything less. What about adding Beagle and taking out Baertschi since Beagle‘s term runs extra year. 9mil cap savings x2 is a lot

Still not worth it for Vancouver. Hoglander is first round value. Easier to wait till next year and buyout Eriksson.

Yeah I would do that. Seems pretty fair. He can be a Martin replacement and we lose Boychuk's cap. Sucks to lose Wilde but price of doing business IMO.
