I think you could combine the bozak and JVR deal into one.

I'd rather have Steen, a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd than JVR and a 4th. Paying to clear out cap only makes sense if you use it wisely, and $7m on JVR ain't it. Plus you've got like $7m in cap laying around on this roster, so why even bother paying to move Steen?

vladdy is on LTIR. also i think youd be surprised by JVR, he was kind of hidden in the flyers depth chart but can be is a really good goalscoring power forward.

Ah i see that now. Still, I'd rather see them save the money and keep the picks than try to add a guy like JVR and tie up all that cap space. Philly would probably be celebrating hard if they moved that contract.

okay then scratch or send down all the fringe roster players. I just put them there to see who could potentially make the team

Only really need to give up a 3rd for JVR without retention. Feel like this would be a good fit for him. He isn’t as bad as people make him out to be on here. Still put up 19 goals in 66 games last season playing with 4th liners and no PP1 time. Getting to play with top 6 talent in STL might make that contract a bit more bearable again.

i think hed be an awesome fit in the top 6. In this scenario stl still doesnt have a ton of big contracts, so the 7m cap wouldn't really sting as much.

JVR isn't bad, but he doesn't really drive offense and he isn't going to get any better for the next 3 years. The Blues could keep the picks and for a few more bucks sign Taylor Hall.

ya hes more of a net front guy but hes really good at that hes massive. I didnt really do the lines but pairing him with thomas and schenn would be lethal imo

I agree 3rd would be enough to get JVR and I think he would be a good addition to replace missing Tarasenko's goal scoring for however long he'd be out

I'm just not a fan personally. Not sure why STL would have to give up value to move Steen and Bozak who play 200 ft and have 1 yr left but Philly would get value for JVR who has 3 yrs left and doesn't do anything but tap in goals. All of them are overpaid, we'd just be saddled with a new bad contract to complain about.

i mean i dont think the term is that bad, if hes at all productive you can leave him exposed in the expansion draft, and if they take him then you have 7m in cap, or if they dont then you still have a fine winger. Or just get them to take him if it comes to that. But as for the steen trade, thats just the cost of business, the blues are win now and paying 6m for a 4th liner is not ideal. But the flyers fans said we can take out the second so wed be good.

Flyers fans being ok with getting essentially no return on the guy should be all you need to know about whether he'd be worth it or not. To me, that money needs to go to the upcoming raises for Schwartz, Binnington, Parayko, Thomas, etc. or to a guy that could actually replace one of them long-term (ex Hall).

Seems like a lot to give up for a one year dump, but if they’re desperate, we’ll take it 🤷🏻‍♂️

While it’s not in that optimal mid-draft range to grab a guy like Schneider, it’d be a nice pickup to add one of Wallinder, Foerster, Reichel, etc.

A third round pick in a very deep draft isn't no return the main reason people want JVR out of Philly is because there is a log jam at left wing with Giroux, Farabee, Lindblom, Raffl, JVR, and Laughton if he doesn't play center. JVR is just the odd man out in an ideal world I'd love to get a second round pick for a guy who is almost guaranteed to put up 25 goals in a full season but we're not in an ideal world there's a flat cap and he has a big contract it's a fair trade to ask for a third. He even put up some of his best play driving metrics this season. You know exactly what you get with him he will be quiet at times but you can still count on 25-30 goals no matter what. With the depth at wing the Flyers have he would probably be on the fourth line and it just does not make sense to have him play there

I understand, I'm just saying you have the cap space to potentially not pay to move one of Steen or Bozak, especially if you don't sign DeMelo

Yes, I get this, I am saying that if you send down the fringe guys and don't pay nearly four million to a third pairing defenseman you don't have to spend a first round pick to move Steen- regardless of where Tarasenko is.

sure, but without a true number 1 pair imo, the blues would just run 6 dmen that can all play just like the isles do, so i paid demelo to be a very quality third pairing piece who will still see a lot of icetime
