wings definitely don't need to burn a draft pick to add a defenseman..but there isn't much in free agency this year unless you want to overpay 30+ year olds.. and you need to sign a minimum of three defensemen..they're not in your minor leagues..where are all those blueliners going to come from? Doesn't matter to the Hawks..Maatta's buyout is nothing..

Detroit has Dekeyser, Nemeth, Biega (#7D), Hronek (on loan in Europe, will be playing #1 RD again), Lindstrom (also on loan in Europe), Cholowski (prospect), Seider (prospect), Hicketts (fringe NHLer), McIlrath (fringe NHLer), and possibly Johansson/McIssac, depending on how they look in the AHL this year. They're still going to be terrible, so no need to rush out and overpay for a stopgap.
