The trade allows Calgary to improve up front and get a goalie, who while aging and declining, can hopefully still put on some playoff magic. Rittich is capable of handling the brunt of the regular season to give Fleury some rest for when it matters. Vegas has to retain 1mil to make it work, but they get out of 6mil for the next 2 years, which lets them sign Lehner. The main part of the return for Calgary is Tuch, who will improve our top 6. Tuch gets dealt for a slightly worse but still young and improving winger who has been playing top 6 on Calgary, so he can for sure handle 3rd line minutes on Vegas for cheaper than Tuch. The cash savings there and trading Stastny will allow Vegas to go after Petro. Vegas also gets a 2nd, and a prospect that will be able to play in their bottom 6 for cheap either next year or the year after (middle 6 upside but he's probably a bottom 6 guy).
