WAAAY overpaying for HJ who already said he isn't waiving his NMC and there is no chance WPG says yes to that.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I read recently that Hjalmarrson stated he won't waive for a trade.

If I'm Colorado I'm looking to get a 3C rather than upgrade your top-six wingers. Might not be a bad idea to bring Soderberg back or flip a dman for a 3C.

I'm sure you can find Hjalmarsson-like d-men for less. Isnt Kaut supposed to be a stud soon?

Reiterate Hjalmarsson trade is a huge over pay on top of the fact he said he won’t waive his NTC right now. And the Avs say no to all of those other trades. Also big over pay to Graves and Nichushkin.

Of course they do that’s a ridiculous trade for the Avs.

Maybe but Soderberg isn’t the guy. I wouldn’t be opposed to somebody like Cizikas.

Not sure how there is a big overpay for Graves and Nicushkin. Graves is exactly in line with what Zadorov got in previous deals. Dont know how Graves accepts anything less than 3MM AVV. Nicushkin salary is line with Compher and Donskooi especially after the he had a better season than both offensively and defensively.

Agree Hjalmarsson might be an overpay, but fits well with this team due to the fact he can play both sides and matches with Makar great allowing him to jump into the play.

100% Cole is a salary dump at over $4,000,000 based on his performance in the playoffs. He was absolutely terrible and is a liability on the 3rd pairing. With flat cap nobody is taking that money without getting something in return. Colorado needs cap space to add that final piece on the back end or front end. Very clear they need another scorer on 2nd line.

Graves isn’t in line with Zadorov, he has had one season in the NHL he is more in line for something like $2M. Nichushkin was a reclamation project that worked and still gets money from his buy out from Dallas where as Donskoi and Compher had multiple successful years and should be in the same range. Overpaying guys like them starts putting a crimp in the total cap picture. No reason whatsoever. And as for your thought Cole is cap dump that’s ridiculous. Yeah he had a bad playoff but he has one year left can play both sides and has been rock solid outside of the Covid playoffs.

Hjalmarsson already stated that he's not waiving his NMC so he's going nowhere, Detroit accepts.

I agree with the upgrade at 3C but I do think they need another scoring wing to round out the top 6. Not sure who that would be - possibly Killorn? A short-term UFA deal like Granlund? Those guys don't excite me but I do think the need is there. Maybe Kaut shows up for camp playing amazing and wins that spot, idk.

From an outsider looking in, while your top-six could use a little boost, it's your lack of depth scoring that really dragged you guys down against Dallas. I'd move some D, maybe to WPG for Copp or Lowry. There aren't a ton of great options out there right now for 3C which is why I suggested Soderberg. He's still producing and did it on a mediocre AZ team.

To be fair, a lot of the depth was injured and being forced to shuffle everyone around created even more issues. The real problem was keeping the puck out of the net - they scored a lot but having 7 regulars out became a really big problem. But the bottom 6 could use a little help especially a guy who can play PK. I'm not sure about Soda - he doesn't have the speed to play 3C on the Avs.

A bold move for Domi might not be a bad idea then. He's not a great PK, but he's got the wheels and scoring touch.

True but he's small. The Avs want a bit more physical presence on D and on the wing. That's why I mentioned Killorn and Granlund (though Granlund isn't a big guy but he is bigger than Domi. Plus Domi is going to want a long-term deal. I don't know that he's a fit.
