Understand if MIN would rather keep #9, this is just an idea. I could be contributing to a quality>quantity case here

I’ve mentioned this to a few people. Been watching jokerit games just to see what he offers. Besides the crazy point totals.,, he is really good. I’m stoked. Just have to wait and see how his game translates.

You might be able to entice the wild to swaps firsts but it’ll take quality rather than quantity to do it.

I feared that'd be the case. I just don't know what we could reasonably give to make it worth it outside of maybe Liljegren, who I wouldn't really want to trade

He's the best defenceman in the world not in the NHL, is what I've heard. Tons of teams were after him, then all of a sudden the leafs sign him and it's "oh well he's not bad, not great defensively, more of a point getter etc. etc."

Dubas has struck gold in the KHL before, maybe he's done it again? I don't think we should plan to have him in the top 4, but if he manages, that's a huge win

He is good defensively not great. But he doesn’t have to be. His passing is almost unbelievable and smart.

pretty good imo. Gonna be a solid 35 point offensive guy in the NHL. Good 2nd pairing d. Does he shoot right tho?

If its prospects, I would assume Liljegren or Hallander (who Guerin tried to get included in the Zucker trade). But I could be wildly wrong.

Holy moly. Just keep 15 and sign a cheap 3C.

Also, yes, I think he began to be undersold the minute the Leafs signed him.

That's way to much to just move up a few spots.

I dont really feel comfortable with Pietro as our only RD. If we kept holl instead of having sandin up or signed Heed/Gudas I'd be much happier. I'd also like to see them pick up Kuemper for Freddie in some way

That’s a lot of spare parts to throw at the wild to swap picks.

Very excited to see him on North American ice. I think he may struggle at first with less room to produce offense, but once he gets acclimated I think he'll be a Mikheyev-level (or better) KHL pickup.

Jokerit is my fav KHL team. He's gonna be so good that he won't be a leaf In 2021 if you know what I mean.

Don't think that was part of the plan when they signed him. I hope you're right.

There is no way it's worth it for the Leafs to trade all that to move up from mid teens to number 9.

Youre nuking our c depth and getting rid of a cost effective defenseman and a second next year and two good but not special prospects for a fairly small move.

Look in hindsight who is drafted 8-10 vs 14-16 over the last decade. It's not that much better. As often as not I like the mid teens player.

It's such a low risk play for Kyle. His relationship with Mikheyev when he was injured and in hospital over the holidays apparently made a big impression on KHL players nervous about coming to North America. No idea if that's what helped sway Mikko...but certainly didn't hurt.

If any of these international signings don't work....they just go to the Marlies with no cap implications. Mikko's knows his chance to make the team will be on the right side and has come out and said he's perfectly comfortable playing RD.

Never know how the transition will be until he gets here so definitely a guy they'll be watching closely at training camp and hoping he can log minutes at a $925k cap hit.

Not a big Leafs fan, but I'm always excited to see how big name European signings perform in North America. Hope he does well and sticks around.

Plus he's a UFA next year so...

Trust me. He's gonna be everything and more. He'll be priced out for Toronto in 2021 which is the only unfortunate of tho.

Whatever happened to Igor Ozhiganov? He didn’t do that bad in his season.

I don't find it all that unfortunate. If he's so good this year (at $925k) that they won't be able to afford him next year, that's a win in my books.

I never got the impression he was particularly great, and especially with the leafs swapping zaitsev for ceci, acquiring barrie, having Holl, Lilly, Sandin - there was too much depth there to keep him - he prob wanted to go back to the KHL anyways

*EDIT* just did some research, apparently he didn't like Babs and the locker room dynamic, said there was a lot of ass-kissers etc.
