No to markstrom and absolutely no to strome, guys only good with panarin.

You want us to take smith, it costs georgiev or a first, not strome.

Meh, Bowey isn't anything special.

it's cap dump, and Georgiev isn't anything special either.

Remove the 4th and the trade is fine, Strome signed to 2 years as a prove you can play deal, and that's it.

Strome is heavily overpaid. Give him a 1 year deal and see how he gels in DET before hauling up for him.

No thank you, we don't want strome, not now or ever. You can keep him or trade him elsewhere. He stinks and is only good with panarin. The red wings want no part of this guy

Trade is meh but that contract for Strome is pretty bad. I’d give him a 1 year deal to see if he can still be a top 6 forward without playing next to Panarin.

most people seem to disagree with you..

he's not mine, nor am i a rangers fan.

the trade is pretty legit whether you like it or not.

Yep, I think the biggest problem I made with this AGM is his contract. Mostly because Detroit has money to burn, but I guess we should also be responsible. I'm going to go revise the $6Mx4 contract to $5.75Mx2 instead. At the very least, he'll be our best shot at a 2C for a couple years until somebody who is potentially more capable (4oa pick this year, Veleno, Rasmussen, FA, etc) comes along.

Nobody likes strome, only ranger fans. The guy legitimately stink his whole career, suddenly plays with panarin and has a decent season. I wouldnt trade a 7th round pick in 2056 for him. The rangers can keep him, we don't want that garbage. Yzerman knows better

you're aware he didn't play the whole season with Panarin, right?...

he rolled in when Zibanejad when down for like 15 games.

Strome didn't suck with the Islanders, he just got buried because of Tavares, Nelson, and Nielsen in his big season there, and played some wing.
he had 34 points in Edmonton playing 3rd line C with absolute scrubs on his wings.

and in the year of his trade, he had 33 points in 63 games before Panarin even joined the team.

I think your assessment of him is wrong, the guy if given proper wingers can be a consistent 2C in the 45-50 point range.

he's in no way an all-star, but he's definitely serviceable on a terrible team like Detroit who would be relying on Frans Nielsen as their 2C.

Actually filppula is our #2 which isn't an upgrade, just a correction.

I wouldn't put strome on my roster if he was the only available center in the whole world to play 2C. I would move any other player on my team there and suffer through another bad season than have this guy on my team. His contract will be one of those where he's bought out immediately. Good thing yzerman said he won't be trading draft picks during this rebuild and it will be a slow rebuild with growing pains. This means he won't be acquiring strome which is great news

Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that you're not going to throw a 6 year $6M deal at him.

I'd put him in the 2 year $4.5M deal, that way if he truly does nothing, it doesn't really affect the development of the eventual replacements by bogging them down in the minors, like what has been done the past 4-5 years.

though if he does well, you're surrounding the young players with a decent 2C.

your bias towards him is a little excessive and making you run with blinders on.

Detroit is well aware they can't overpay or offer long term contracts to potentially marginal players, they learned that with Ericsson, Abdelkader, Helm, Nielsen, Daley and so on.

I agree 100% with everything you said. Haven't you ever disliked a player so much that no matter what you wouldn't want him on your team? This is the guy for me, I literally can't stand him or anything about his game. I'm glad that this is a move yzerman won't make, I'd puke if we had him

No... not really. lol

there are Players I would never want... but if they can contribute to make the team better, i'd accept it as good for all.

Can't stand Lucic, guy can barely skate, but he serves a purpose, and I can see the benefit of him being on a team.
