No thanks. Zero interest in Stepan for me. We need to get younger as it is and if we acquire a C we need a long-term solution, not a rental like Stepan.

Stepan could go anywhere for equivalent value I just picked Minny because I saw someone post an AGM with him listed as a potential target

Agree to disagree, JP is an unknown commodity. Scoring in the Finnish league is great but he doesn’t have the best NHL track record. You guys actually decrease cap in this deal too

It’s what it’s going to take forever the Coyotes to move him tho. He’s their MVP.

I understand the 1st but having Dube in there is like having Hayton in the trade. Keep him if thats your asking price, word is Markstrom wants to play with his best friend Lindholm anyways

We decrease cap for 1 year and then we are stuck with a potentially declining 3 years of OEL at a huge cap hit.

Flames easily decline, take out dube. Flames wouldn’t trade dube for kuemper 1 for 1

Stepan as a cheap to get rental is fine with me. He's better than MarJo, Rask, and Bjugstad. Seriously MN is going into the season where Rask might be the 2nd best center on the team.

I'm shocked you're saying this after the years we endured as fans where Fletcher perpetually demolished our prospect pool by making trades like this. We aren't winning anything with or without Stepan so there's zero reason to acquire him by using futures IMO. Just keep the picks and hope we get another Beckman or Khovanov. Brackett has had a bunch of good hits later in drafts as well.

Like the Oilers deal. I think the Yotes would need to retain like $1-$2M to help the Oilers out a little. I don't mind the pieces getting shipped out

Stepan for a 2nd, 3rd, or Donato is no big deal to me. Monahan, Domi, Danault, etc for Dumba/Brodin/1sts bothers me. I'll take the bandaide of Stepan over the tourniquet of bad trade targets being thrown around on here and by the press. I don't put much stock in picks after the top-25. They are nice but there are too many misses or fringe players are the end result. I won't lose any sleep over trading away a 2nd to make the team better.

For all the flack Fletcher got he put some very good teams on the ice. The change in CBA, the Vegas expansion draft, and cap not growing like it was projected did him in. Unless Gurin puts a Playoff team on the ice next year he won't be here long. So far he has actively made the NHL team worse than when he took over a year ago. He's not fixing any issues, he's just hoping the kids he inherited grow up and make him look good.

Zero chance his best days are far behind him
I don’t believe Edm has any interest in trading for OEL this rumour is being driven by the media his cap hit is to high and to long of term for Edm to even consider it Yotes would have to retain 2mil plus or the Yotes would have to seriously over pay to move him. 7 yrs at 8.25 broke the 50 point mark once 5 yrs ago and was a -25 that yr and has been a minus player every yr since, you can pick apart nurses defensive # but OEL are no better and nurse is 3mil cheaper and bring a edge to our blue line

OEL is slightly better than Nurse imo, but it's a lateral move with that massive contract. And don't forget he'll be 36 when it ends.

That's debatable. But don't forget Nurse is 25 and OEL is 30. Even if you set that onerous contract aside, I wouldn't trade Nurse for OEL 1-for-1 just due to age.

I agree. OEL could be that dman who defies age and production and impact could remain the same in his late 30's, but that's a big if. I dont think ARI is going to get what they want for OEL and they'll end up taking pennies on the dollar, because that's all they care about
