too much money going back to buf for a position that they don't need.
Probably be looking for a a top 6 to mid 6 forward for montour instead of a 4thie and an expensive dman

Martinez is a LHD which they need. Carrier Would also fill the need at bottom 6 LW.

Martinez is also a solid stay at home guy unlike most of Buffalo's other defensemen

Sabres dont "need" a LHD, they can sign a UFA or put Montour himself there

They do. Buffalo isn’t going to be an attraction for UFA’s and Montour is horrible on his offside.
