so you trade 2 firsts, a good forward prospect and another pick for nylander and you put him on the 3rd line?

also, not even close on JVR value

Agreed. With Taylor Hall looking for a steady, good team to play for, if the Blues cleared a bunch of cap just to burn a 1st rd pick on JVR... I'd be pretty unhappy. There are much better way to use the pick and the cap space IMO.

Yah you shouldn’t go for Nylander, especially if it costs that much, which it shouldn’t.

Gotta think you need to trade Sanheim/Myers if you want Nylander, despite your deal being fair value wise

Yeah, I agree honestly. Was just reading up on him and saw how much value he brings on <$7m contract. He would be great for any team and wanted to see how it might work hypothetically

Yah, and for as good as he is, there is no way he holds that much value.

Yeah that's fair. I was thinking of adding Gostisbehere, but thought that might not work for STL cap-wise. I figured STL might bite since they are picking 26th this year, but we would probably have to add.

????? Leafs gladly accept. Trading 7m JVR, almost impossible unless you are taking equally cap back. Most teams can spend 7m a lot better than JVR. Maybe NJ takes him off your hands for 7th rounder....and even that is iffy.

In his exit interview, Chuck Fletcher talked about how disappointed he was to see a lack of scoring from his bottom 6 in the playoffs. Depth is going to be a focus for him. AV showed in the playoffs that he can like to play all 4 lines (Thompson got more ice time than Voracek at times, which was frustrating). I think the value for Nylander will be hard to give up, and it will be another wrinkle in a difficult cap situation. But in terms of fit, I think it could work.

He definitely isn't the same player he was in Toronto, but he can be a perennial 25-goal scorer for sure, which has value. AV just does not like him for whatever reason, which isn't JVR's fault. Playing Grant and Thompson over JVR in the playoffs was inexcusable honestly.

1st rounder may have been wishful thinking, but he definitely has more value than a 7th. I understand the cap implications are tough, but he can score 25 goals a year. Teams will pay for that.

No, because of our cap situation, JVR is already getting up there in age, I would rather just try and sign Taylor Hall or someone instead and hope we can get something decent with 26oa.
