Is there a Strome to TO trade that makes sense

Created by: BCAPP

Description
I've seen talk (just talk) that with Dach emerging, Strome may be tradeable. Doubt the Leafs have what they want, but I'd love if they did. I truly believe you build forward corps from the middle out

Perfect example of quality doesn't equal quantity.

Johnsson is a cap dump as far as the Hawks are concerned. Kerfoot is another cap dump as far as the Hawks are concerned. We have zero interest in either player, so Toronto fans, unless you paying the Hawks to take them, please find another team to move them to.

Dermott is remotely interesting but Hawks aren't going to value him much given their logjam of bottom 4 defenders on the left side.

And you're asking Chicago to take on more cap then they are giving up? C'mon

If you want Strome and Muprhy, then Nylander is coming back as part of a package.

Kerfoot is a better fit as 3C. Strome isn't a good fit for a bottom six, and he's clearly not going to fit in Toronto's top six. Plus he likely will ask for more money than Toronto could justify paying their 3C.

Chicago would probably be intrigued by an offer for either player revolving around 15th overall, but this package definitely does not get both Strome and Murphy.

Actually, Strome doesn't have arbitration rights and 2 years for $3.5M is about what he'll get. He is a 2C but nothing wrong with have a very good 3C, easily an upgrade over Kerfoot. That said, I don't think he's a good fit for Toronto's system.

I would simplify it

Liligren + 2nd for Murphy
2020 1st + Hallinder (if necessary) for Strome

gives them cap space and they get 2 good prospects

But still I dont think Strome is a target for us as I think Dubas has 2 goals in mind. Find defensively minded forwards who can score but play well defensively and second fine a partner for rielly.

got to agree on this one.

Kerfoot despite his bad start with us was contributing defensively for us and despite his late penalty kill role he was solid there to

Strome does not penalty kill and provides little defense.

One issue people pointed out with kerfoot was hiw FOW% sucked this season. Well Dubas planned on fixing that with his new hire Manny Malhotra who should have kerfoot at 55% FOW in no time.

So while Strome is clearly the better center I feel Dubas should keep kerfoot and construct a 3rd line that is strong defensively but can score with kerfoot being the center.
