I mean fine I guess? I just don't know why they wouldn't look at a real improvement to the blueline though. I think they like Hainsey for non hockey reasons, so I don't understand why they wouldn't just give him a coaching job. 95% of DJs praise of Grumpy was that he was like another coach for him.

id have preferred Braun for 1 year over Hainsey. I still think theres a trade coming in the next year for a long term top 6F or top 4D man. They also said they might trade some 2nd rounders to poach players from cap straddled teams. I just hope their solutions arent Ryan Murray, Olli Maata or Erik Gudbranson loool

Ryan Murray is the type of player I would target, but with him only on a 1 year deal it wouldn't make sense, unless he would be signing a really favorable contract for the team. They need someone who can play with that level of defensive poise though.

Looking at guys who would make sense longer term, I think Nikita Zadorov and Marcus Pettersson would be two options who could be available, especially if Pittsburgh ends up getting Matheson after all. My two pipe dream options would be Jake Chychrun or Brandon Carlo, but I don't see either of those happening.

Don't you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!

Again, why not give some young guys some shots. Jaros is always my pick. I just think there is something there with him. That leaves Zaitsev, Zub and Brannstrom (LHD) on the right side... Zub will partner with Chabot and Zaitsev with either Rielly or Wolanin… so that leaves... if he comes back... Hainsey with Rielly. Hainsey with Brann the broken? I have no idea what this roster is going to look like. October 9th can't come fast enough.

Yeah some big defensive guy to play with Chabot. Then Brannstrom-JBD and Wolanin-Thomson

Could Cernak be to Chabot what Methot was for Karlsson? Cuz Cernak clearly isnt a good offensive dman but as long as he isnt Larsson (who can defend but not play the puck) we are fine. If he can defend, be physical sometimes and make a first pass just like Methot we should be fine
