If there is no retention on Dubnyk I’m not too interested in that deal unless assets are coming back.

His actual salary next season is only $2.5million...still want retention?

I wouldn't trade Dumba alone for that package, let alone add Donato and Hartman. They may not have much value, but Larsson isn't good and Puljujarvi's value is tanked. The first is cool but it'll be a mid to late 1st, and that's not enough.

I'd rather have Gaudette than Greenway

So we trade one of our best defensive prospects and we add more salary making it harder to retain our 3 RFAs. No shot isles do this

Lou asked for 2.5 mill retention before the deadline, kid.

The 3 RFAs are the priority, not parise. Lou is defense 1st, he will not trade for Parise if it puts him in jeopardy of losing one of them.

The trade that you proposed is what you want to happen, it’s not feasible for the islanders. Unless guerin retains over 2 mill, the isles can not afford parise.

It’s more the thought process that I’d rather use the cap & cash to acquire futures. Getting a cheap backup to Bernier like Broissut accomplishes that. He should be cheap leaving us with more cap/cash to really leverage teams. It’s really hard to say if Detroit will operate on an internal budget since Chris Illitch is in charge and not his late father, Mike. I hope we spend but I’m not going to assume that we do and if we do I want to go after first-second rounders or prospects.

Neither the oilers or the wild are making that trade for various reason most notably cap space and value of return.

Wilde is a 3rd pairing...maybe a low-end 2nd pairing d-man prospect.

What about his game makes you say that? No scouting report labels him as a 3rd pairing caliber prospect.

He has poor hockey IQ, and that is by far the biggest separator at this level of hockey! The world is full of players who can skate and shoot and stick-handle at the NHL level but who can’t see or think the game the game fast enough to get the best out of the rest of their skillset. I see Bode Wilde as one of these players.

He actually does not have a poor hockey IQ. He’s terrible defensively and his gap control needs work, but from an offensive standpoint he does think and read and react to plays at a high level. There are not many defenseman that can pull off the things he can and he’s a perfect makeup of elite skating ability/hands/size. This season was a lost year due to injuries but I do know for a fact that the isles organization was just as high on him as they were Dobson last summer.

I’ve read several times that his ability to make fast decisions is a major question mark about him. Im going by what I’ve read, you are definitely more plugged into the Islanders than I am, so it makes no sense for me to continue debating this.

At the end of the day the only thing that matters is what the isles think of him and they think he has an extremely high ceiling and they like his size/physical play.
