I hate that Wild trade. I'd maybe be interested in a 2nd straight up but I think Strome is fools gold...

The Kings trade is closer than my initial reaction but I don't think they do it. Lafallo was a real bright spot and I'd rather have him then DeAngelo and I'd rather build around an elite center than an elite wing.

Kakko and Deangelo alone wouldn't get you 2OA.

I think this trade is pretty close. I think the Kings would prefer Iafallo to DeAngelo, so I don't think they'd do it. Not bad as far as value is concerned though.

if the kings want to trade for a winger then no. 24 year old RD that can score 60 points a season have a lot of value.

i didn't do a deep dive into LA's players. base line was kakko plus something else good for the #2.

Would he? He's a career 30 point player that was boosted by Panarin. I watched multiple Rangers games during quarantine and I'm not convinced he can produce well without Panarin. Johansson is way better and he's slotted as our 1C right now.

I proposed this trade like a month ago and it got mixed reviews from both sides, which leads me to believe it's fairly reasonable:

To LA:
Kakko
#22 OA

To NY:
#2 OA
#35 OA

We don't know if Kakko is a bust or not and Deangelo also played with Panarin and Zibanejad.

cale makar plays with MacKinnon and Rantanen. in your way of thinking i suppose the avs should sell high now.

i would do it as a rangers fan. the trade is about if the kings value kakko more than the 2nd pick. kakko's numbers weren't good last season but he played really well in the play ins. a lot of top picks played poor first seasons.

That's not what I'm saying. This was a breakout year for Deangelo, he's got great forwards to move the puck up to, but he's also not good defensively. I don't care about Makar, it could be the same thing I don't know. All I'm saying is I think Deangelos value is a bit inflated by linemates, there isn't much else to go off of.

Let's say Kings do this trade now, they give up 2OA and Kings get Kakko and Deangelo. Kakko is looking like a bust atm, what if he does not rebound and Deangelo struggles because the Kings don't have crazy good forwards for him to pass to? I rather take my chances on Stutzle/Byfield reaching their potential.

No thanks. Kakko is looking like a bust so why would you even consider that?

The Kings need a top-quality sure thing winger. They don't have any of those. Kaliyev is the closest thing that they have, and he's far from a guarantee to work out.

Byfield is a bona-fide 1C, and he carries more value than Kakko, but not significantly. Kakko had a disappointing rookie season, so everyone is undervaluing him of late, but he's only 19 years old. He still has plenty of time to grow into his potential.

All the trades I've seen to swap the #1 and #2 picks are ridiculous. LA doesn't want to give up enough (#2 + Kupari), while NY wants way too much (#2 + Turcotte + Bjornfot ++). Nothing like that is ever going to happen. At least this way, both teams get a #2 OA pick, and both of them get a top quality player at the position they need.

Not sure if it would ever actually happen, but it's worth considering.

I don't agree that Kakko looks like a bust. He was rushed to the NHL before he was ready and therefore had a disappointing rookie season, but he's a far cry away from Nail Yakupov. Give him another year to develop and I think he'll turn into the elite player that everyone expected him to be.

is johansson a true center? storme is. storme is a solid 2 way player, can play pk and pp. yes realistically he is a high end 3C.

Byfield hasn't played any games in the nhl yet. nothing is 'bonafide' about him stepping in a being a 1c. if anything everything i've read about him is high risk, high reward with him as a prospect. but i understand what you're saying. centers def have more value which is why i'm down to pay more for him. i understand if kings fans don't want to make the trade, i wouldn't either.

I disagree that he's high risk. If there was ever a prospect that was a sure thing, it would be Byfield. He might not turn into a elite franchise player, but he's the closest thing to a 1C that you could ever have for a player coming out of the draft. He's lower-risk than Kakko IMO.

Yeah, Wild don't touch that. Take out Eriksson Ek and it's a lot closer. Wild could add a 4th or something.

i have little trust in Bill Guerin right now. he spoke about getting younger. storme makes sense to me. i can understand not including ek, he is only 23 and a solid player. if the rangers decide to trade storme i can see guerin in on him. he is only 27 years old.

All fine and good until you're giving up 2OA for him. Still needs development and who knows if he'll reach his potential. Counter productive move for the Kings, decline.

The exact same applies to Byfield. Don't forget that Kakko was also a #2OA pick.
