Nylander and Boeser to Boston

Created by: owenhockey

Description
DeBrusk is a good player when he's hot, however, when he's off he's nearly invisible on the ice. Toronto needs to make some moves they are struggling with success and the cap. Nylander's contract is much better for Boston than Debrusk's would be with him wanting a lot for what he brings; 5-6 M's. This would benefit both teams as the Bruins would not sign debris before this occurred thus allowing the Leafs to go multiple directions with this. They could sign him for a cheaper 1-2 year deal, flip him for a much needed defenseman, or qualify him and take the picks. This would not strap them down into having to move another contract and this could also make room for their Petro dreams if that's the direction they choose to go. in short, the Bruins upgrade at wing and the Leafs gain some much needed flexibility and options.

Vancouver's asking price for Boeser is a solidified top-4 defenseman and Krug is just that. The Bruins could either sign and trade or trade his ufa rights. The most logical choice for the canucks would be a sign and trade as there is not guarantee that Krug would sign with Vancouver. This deal would relieve the Canucks of the Boeser negations and allows them to focus more on Hughes and Pettersson. Also, if they found a way to trade Eriksson and potentially Myers, if they wanted to resign tanev, that would free up come cap for them to either save for extensions of add to their team. This in addition to the Nylander trade and Krejci's passing and playmaking abilities, if they choose to keep him, would make a deadly second line.

These trades meet the needs of both teams and allows the Bruins to keep their window open. However, I'm not sure these trades would ever materialize. Also, the Bruins would need to trade Ritchie, Kase, and Moore for cap purposes and to ensure that Frederic and Studnicka got the play time that they need.

This is all hypothetical, but I don't think that's it's extremely far fetched. Some other components such as Kase, Ritchie, Moore, prospects, or picks could be added if nessicary on both sides.

Let me know what you think.

Nylander is worth way more.
Believe VAN would want an RD (Carlo) and they have Hughes on LD so I'm not sure if they want Krug/Krug wants Vancouver. They can also just wait two weeks.

Bruins need one RW, not two. And you have 1/3 good LD; missing two and at $600K of cap space.

That Vancouver trade makes no sense. The rights to Krug are worth about a fourth round pick. The Canucks aren't giving up any significant assets for a sign-and-trade, because then it's clear the player is happy to sign in Vancouver for that price and they can just wait until October 9 and they don't lose the asset.

Nylander is worth considerably more than DeBrusk. If the Leafs want to move Nylander then they won't have a problem finding suitors.

???? A UFA and his rights aren't much....maybe a fourth rounder. If Krug would want to sign with Canucks (he doesn't), Canucks can just wait and just sign him.

Get real Nylander for DeBrusk RFA rights Boston needs to add big time, And Boeser for Krugs UFA rights. First off Krug isn't signing with Vancouver. And secondly Boeser would get moved more for Carlo then Krug.

If they trade Kase, Ritchie, and Moore after or before that gives them $7 million in cap total and Nylander can play both wings, but I get your point. I'm just messin around anyways.

Neither trade makes sense for reasons already stated by others.

And cant stress this enough, Nylander > DeBrusk.

Toronto would never do that, but more importantly, Vancouver would never, ever do that. The rights to an expiring UFA cost a mid round pick, at best. Also the Canucks don't even have the cap space to make this trade

Don’t see van doing that they could just wait till he’s a UFA and if they did sign him move Boeser for a first and a prospect and if your going to spend that much they’d go all in for Petro a right shot d they need

Can’t see the leafs moving Nylander to a hated rival like Boston , Boston would have massive over pay add a first and top tier prospect which they would turn around and move Debrusk for more picks a first a late second rd pick or a first and prospect leaving them the cap to sign Petro this would be a stupid move by Boston you just gave your rival the cap to sign the top UFA and stockpile first rounders and prospects
Give you a A for being creative but a E for not thinking it through.

If Joel Edmundson rights were worth a 5th and Jimmy Vesey’s were worth a 3rd after not signing his ELC in Nashville, than Krug’s are worth a lot more than a 4th. 2nd or early 3rd.

However it appears this was a sign and trade.

For the Krug deal to be even remotely possible it would have to be for the 8 years. I think any team that signs Krug to an 8 year deal is making a mistake. Also - as everyone has said - Vancouver would be better off paying Krug a little more, one less year as a FA and trading Boeser for something else.

Nylander is about 10x better than Debrusk. Also, not the types of players they need. They need size and toughness and not Nick Ritchie. Good Big guys that aren't 6' and can't be moved.

It all depends on the likelihood a team will sign him. He's not going to get a 3rd for rights. Just cause someone overpays once, doesn't mean someone will again. The only team I see trading for Krug would be someone trying to steal him away from Detroit. If Chicago thinks they can steal him away and very confident they can.

Vesey was also very hyped 22 year old & I can't give you a logical explanation for Edmundson. Krug will get a 4th or 5th for rights.

Krug isn't signing a contract with Boston that doesn't include a restrictive NTC contract. If Bruins pulled that crap on Krug all future Bruins would want NTCs when they were eligible.

VAN decline. Also the Bruins are not going to do that to Krug if they do end up re-signing him.
