Restructuring this somehow salary heavy team

Created by: MelonVK
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 25, 2020
Published: Sep. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Carter and Lundqvist are presumably both picky with any possible trade destinations. This could be a solution to both. NYR has to stop buying players out - a lot of cash will be free'd next year due to Staal's contract expiring and Shattenkirk's cap hit dropping. This can be used to extend Buch, Chytil, Shesterkin and Lindgren/Howden etc. Carter's contract aligns with Kakko/Zib/Fox extentions, and hopefully for NYR the cap is higher then.

I might even be aiming too low with Deangelo for Hanifin, but I don't mind seeing Anthony and his loud mouth burn, and figured what's a better destination than the Flames.

More / other picks / assets could be involved in the Ottawa trade, but you get the idea.

Why would Calgary do that? Give up the better player plus an extra asset and take on an attitude problem.

1. Being suspended for calling a teammate a slur in Jr.
2. Being suspended for abuse of an official in Jr.
3. Being suspended for abuse of an official in the NHL.

ok, so what you have exhibited is someone that "once" had a problem and seems to have grown up - no longer an issue. using the 2 cases from juniors means nothing.
don't hold on to the past...

The 'Watch Your Tone' podcast 2nd.

Calgary just got rid of a racist coach. They aren't going to stick their neck out for a player walking a problematic line.

The dude was called a teammate a slur and still actively supports Trump, that is not someone that has grown up, he's just supporting bigotry at a higher level. The guy is a human piece of ****.

They can have whatever viewpoints they want, just like I can think they are a piece of ****. He's a bigot supporting a bigot, don't know how any decent human being can defend that.

The podcast he just launched and the topics it intends to cover suggest he never learned his lesson. Plus, in a hockey market like Calgary, the incident referred to in that blog post will absolutely resurface. No chance he's on their acquisition list.

He's has an attitude problem and as stated in the description I actively think he's a pos. But he's *for sure* the better hockey player of the two.

I don't think any contender has the space to take him on, but regardless of that I think if there's any place other than NY where he can do a year, it's probably LA. But obviously that's speculation, neither you or I knows what he thinks or wants.

I think he would perfer to go play with a cup contenter so he can win a cup and I think the Rangers can retain salary.
