As far as the trade goes, it looks like relatively fair value on both sides to me.

I'm just not sure why Florida would want to move Ekblad. They're not exactly thick on D as it is and Liljegren is an AHL'er at this point in his career.

Liljegren is still a good up and coming player also Florida can take a d with their first this year or trade for a guy like dumba.

But why would they when they already have Ekblad with term and decent AAV?

It could also be argued that they could "take a forward" with their 1st this year in a very deep draft or re-sign a guy like Hoffman at decreased market value and come out on top.

I just don't see how this benefits the Panthers. It is much harder to draft, develop and get a top pairing RHD into your lineup than it is a winger who can score.

Once again Florida declines, Not trading their best blue liner for Nylander and Liljegren.

Panthers laugh and block your number!

1. They don't trade their best dman on a good contract with term, and he is still very young (good for rebuilding)

2. If ever they think about trading him, it's gonna need a huuuuuge overpay to grab him (your offer is far to be enough)

3. No team will retain 2m5 for 5 years c'mon.

Leafs would do it, Florida likely won't. Florida likely asks for Marner but the leafs won't move him to a divisional rival so I don't think an Ekblad trade between Toronto and Florida will ever happen.
