Giving out multiyears contracts to 3 veterans on the decline, while bloking the resigning of 5 UFAs is far from what I would call "Money well spent".

This doesn't make the team better. Grass is not always greener elsewhere, if you don't like Drouin cause he's not enough implicated, than you'll want Bergevin's head when you'll see Hoffmann play.
Dadonov is 31, better keep this money for Danault/Gally. No need for Gudas, especially not at that price. A 6th dman at 1m is enough, Juulsen/Fleury or Kulak are better options.

Domi's value is higher

Who is it blocking that you would want back? None of the 4th line, Allen's money is gone then Primeau comes up. Hoffman has at least shown he can consistently score
