So I guess this means Dorion likely has a deal in place around our 2nds for a roster player, or is about to take on a cap dump. Even resigning Tierney/Brown/Duclair this would leave us awful close to the floor

EDIT: Also, buying him out right after winning the Masterton big oof

He’s going to sign in Tampa 1x1 and score 25-30 goals.

Makes sense, Ottawa needed the cap space.

Islanders should be all over him. I feel so bad for him as a person and I want him to succeed.

Very interesting for sure. It's not like you guys needed cap space, but *IF* someone can convince Eugene to open the wallet a little bit (Get them to $70-75 mil for a year or 2), there's so much potential to weaponize that cap space, or maybe strangle some team with an offer sheet. Giving up a potential lotto pick or two might not be the best idea, but with the amount of picks you have over the next couple of years, stealing someone might be a good way to kick the rebuild into the next gear.

I find it extremely interesting that the original trade (Ryan for Silfverberg, Noesen, and the pick that turned into Ritchie), pretty much turned out as a pretty even split in the end.

-Ryan: 266 points
-Silfverberg: 272 points (More games played)
-Noesen: Nadda
-Richboiiii: Numbers that could have been replicated by most 3rd liners.

The only thing that pushes this into the "Win" column (IMO) for the Ducks, is that Richie netted them Heinen, who's a pretty versatile all-around forward. He's nothing super special, but he's definitely > Ritchie.
