Boston laughs and laughs and laughs. They have been developing Bjork for three years. He finally took the step, they are not tradign him for some 30 year old scrub.

They had Belesky and they traded him

I agree Boston would be silly to do it. Just have seen it put out there. Bandwagons are fun.

De Melo for $2 million and 1 year? I don't think so.

Not a fan of the NSH trade. At all. NSH would have to retain a lot more than half a mil to get me to bite. Just from a money standpoint:

Neal at $5.75M x 3 = $17.25M
Turris at $5.5M x 4 = $22M (with $500k retained)

They'd have to retain $2M before I'd strongly consider that deal.

The Neal turris is a horrible idea from the Oiler side the preds would need to retain more as remember we are one the hook for 750k in salary retained in the Lucic deal which needs to go with Neal.

Asking for a pick to take on Kris Russel is like demanding your garbage man also mow your lawn.

- Among 200 defensemen who played at least 500 minutes at 5v5 last season, Russell ranked 4th in GA/60.
- His salary is only $1.5M next year.
- Russell ranks #1 in the league in shots blocked/60 over the past 3 years.
- He's a staple on the PK.

There will be teams who will be glad to get him for a late pick. And he'll have even more value at the deadline, so bottom-feeding teams like LA should certainly be interested.

2 years ago, absolutely, not anymore. You can't say you haven't seen a decline.

Everything I wrote is current.

- Russell was 4th in GA/60 in 2019-20.
- His low salary is for 2020-21.
- #1 in shots blocked from 2017-20.
- heavily relied on for PK in 2019-20.

There will be plenty of teams willing to pay a late pick for him. LA could turn their 6th into a 3rd at the deadline AND have a better defense / PK in the meantime.

I think we are good, I wouldn't be surprised if those numbers are heavily generated from his partner (Klefbom, I think?).

LOL. So Klefbom influenced his contract? The number of shots he blocked? Klefbom influenced the coaches to rely heavily on Russell on the PK?? I like Oscar Klefbom, but he doesn't have these kind of powers.

The only metric Klefbom could possibly have influenced is Russell's 5v5 GA/60, which was 4th in the league at 1.62. Turns out Klefbom's number was helped by Russell more than the other way around:

Russell + Klefbom: 1.55 GA/60
Russell w/o Klef: 1.64 GA/60
Klefbom w/o KR: 3.14 GA/60

Yikes. Klefbom was shaky this year, but I didn't know it was that bad. What would you trade for Klefbom?
