Gonna be a no from MIN.

They don't need wingers from outside their team

Nylander is the closest thing to a 1C that they're going to find on the trade market.

Nylander is NOT a center, his defensive game stinks. Unless you want him to give up 25% of his offense (which is an awful idea) then he's a winger

I'd want a 1st round pick or a 2nd + 4th/5th for Andy

I don't Minnesota needs Nylander when Fiala just had a breakout year and Kaprizov is coming in. I understand that it's Nylander for Fiala but I think Fiala just fits so well into Minnesota's system and I don't see them moving him at all.

You see, Minnesota isn't interested in giving up the only decent center and the only exciting player not named Kirill on the team. Especially when Nylander is no full guarantee to be a 1C.

Factually incorrect from top to bottom. Wild take that trade and run like hell.

Just ask these 3...

I'm not sure what you are asking me here. I think Nylander can play center. I think Nylander is a better Wing I think the loss of 25% of his offense is a stretch. I would not trade Fiala and Ek for him.

Wow thought for sure you would take that lol. Guess you’re higher on fiala than I am. I just see him going back to his average shooting percentage.

Leafs would certainly not offer nylander up for this package.

Makes Tor better and MN worse, Guerin should be all over that trade. This is right there with the Staal/MarJo trade and Spurgeon contract brightidea fairy visits from our GM. Fire Guerin and hire Chiapet if this trade happens.

Wrong guy to ask here. I wouldn’t make this trade in 1000 years. I can see some logic to a Fiala for Nylander 1:1 deal IF the Leafs needed left-shot wings like the Wild need right-shot wings, but aside from that, it’s basically trading same for same. Plus, Toronto doesn’t want Fiala anyway because his next contract is going to cost more than Nylander’s current deal.

Ooof... nylander fiala 1for1? No way. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see fiala being anywhere near nylander.

He’s an unbelievably talented player and BY FAR the most exciting player in a Wild sweater since Gaborik (when healthy). This is not a knock on Nylander at all, he too is a terrific player, but if my life was on the line and I had to pick which player ends up the best player between these two, I’m taking Fiala, every time.

Fiala scored 26 points in his final 18 games of the season and was the game breaker we've lacked since Gaborik during that stretch, and he was every bit as dominant during the play-in against Vancouver after the long pause. He's worth more to the Wild than any other team right now because he hasn't proven he can do it again (I don't see why he wouldn't, he was incredible against Vancouver) so for that reason I don't see us getting fair value for him in a trade and may as well keep him.

I love Nylander and I do think he's capable of playing center, but the more time he spends on the wing the less time he has to develop his center responsibilities.

I'm with Bass on this. 1-for-1 I would consider basically because of handedness, but it's a coin flip. I think Fiala would explode in Tor and Wild fans would be crying about it for years (Burns trade).

I like Nylander, I'd want to add him to the Fiala, JEE, and Kaprizov players MN already has (IE the Dumba trades on here that don't make sense for Tor). Trading those FWDs away just to get Nylander doesn't really do anything for MN.

This would be a fun one to revisit mid way through next season. Maybe I’m just not giving fiala enough credit.

We will gladly revisit this conversation - not to gloat, but just to hear about how much fun you had watching Fiala play.

Thanks! If it means anything I cheer for the Leafs, only because Canada needs a cup, and they seem the closest to being able to do that.
