Hall has said he knows he may not be able to get as much as he would have pre-COVID. He also has said he really wants to win (not surprising considering the teams he has played for) so I bet he would take less on a longer contract with a team he knows could win. This team could be it but he does have other options.

On the one hand, the Avs could use a 2nd-line scoring wing. On the other hand, Tatar is not a big guy and the Avs want to be bigger on the wing so they can be a bit more physical. So, I would think Sakic is going to be looking for size combined with scoring ability before he would consider a guy like Tatar. It's not implausible but there is more to it than just looking for a scorer.
