He would have a 15 teams NTC. (91.9 FM radio)

AAV is fine but the term worries me due to his age. His 100% worth that much right now but who knows if he will still be worth that much a year or two into his deal

He's currently playing the best hockey of his career... he's a late bloomer and likely gonna be this way for awhile. I don't think it's anything to worry about

Way to over value prospects. Only KK and Suzuki are poised to get decent bucks at the end of their ELC. Poehling is a bubble player and Primeau has many years behind Carey before we see if he’s an NHL goaltender.

If the Habs end up in cap hell, it won’t be because they signed Jeff Petry for fair value.

Unless Kk is in the Hart conversation this year or approaches point per game totals he's probably only going to be in the 3-5 mil range I think only Suzuki is poised to get over 5 mil and depending on Romanov if he comes in like a makar he might warrant it but I think Kk is lower if he is signed before he becomes an RFA

He had a 15 NTC and it's not a 15 team trade clause. Slightly more protective for him.

When that time comes we can trade them.

That depends if they hold their value as they age. Some players can hit a wall and drop off very quickly.

He's playing the best hockey of his career, we don't even know if he's at his peak yet.

Pretty good signing. Just wondering about the repercussions regarding the ED as Petry is now a must-protect.

They'll likely lose a somewhat valuable asset because of this.

Fair AAV, too much term. I would have preferred 3 years as he'll be 34 when it kicks in

Lol Thought the opposite, I was afraid it'd be 6yrs

* he'll be 33 depending on when normal shedules return*

He was always likely to be chosen.

Weber
Petry
Chiarot or Edmundson

Nobody valuable will be lost

I guess everyone saying Petro shouldn’t get 7 years should know that Petry will also be signed till 37.

Are you comparing a $6M AAV with a $9M? Thats's... Something.

Maybe Comparing him to Spurgeon at 7.5M until 37 y.o. Would be more relevant.

I mean as a pending UFA he wouldn't have been picked no matter what.

fair value my ass. KK and Suzuki are gonna get paid same with Romanov and eventually Caufield. I also think Primeau will make some ok bucks. I doubt we are gonna sign all 5 of them when we are spending 28 mill on Petry,Weber,Price, and Edmundson. Your a joke u clearly don't know **** about hockey

Quit pretending that these guys are all signed for 10 years or something.

Caufield isn't even signed and then he has a 3 year ELC. Romanov is likely to start on the 3rd pairing and will find it extremely difficult to move up. KK hasn't proven hes anything more than a 3rd liner and Suzuki is gonna get like 6 Million.

Petro may not sign for 9. But yeah I get the AAV difference. Still, Petro has a much higher likelihood of being a top D in the twilight of his career vs Petry.

Still think habs should’ve traded him for a boatload of picks / prospects. This core of price / Weber isn’t good enough to win, and by the time Suzuki/ caufield / Romanov / JK will be in their prime, Weber / Price will be washed. Bubble team mentality.

Petro said no to 8x8 so I imagine he wants even more on a 7 year deal. They aren't comparable. You don't be competitive by continuing to sell your veterans for picks and prospects. Ask Buffalo
