Kemper Trades UFAs

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Six total moves feels like a lot, but THIS feels like a realistic SC contender.

Depth throughout, two goalies to carry through what looks like a really tough season (lots of back to back / 3 in 4 nights).

Hall at 9M plus does not feel realistic. Money can be spent shoring up gaps. Top 6 W, 3C and PK 4th liner, all upgrades on current roster. I Love Haula for 3c and Fast for bottom six. Not totally sold on Tafolli, but 2nd liners are slim in FA and in trade (unless you do Zadorov for Palmeri).

I Am sure Arizona fans will not like that trade, but no one else can offer up a G and cost savings. The 2nd + Jost feels like the right value for a G in a goalie rich environment.

Also noted: Kaut might play in Czech League all year. Might move up Bowers or O'Connor. Also dont expect Byram up until next year (until he is traded for Ejhlers :) )

Finally, this leaves 21M (not including what they lose to expansion which will be at least $2.5M based on current protection list) to resign Gabe (7.5M), Makar (3x$8.5...he's gonna get that new cap bump), bring up Byram (900K - take Cole's spot), Bowers (900k - take PEB's spot) and pay Timmons (1.5M) and a G (1-2M)...so cap is ok for a bit

OK let the beatings begin.

I feel like the team would be better if they traded for kessel, preferably with money retained.. and kept everything the same as last year.

These guys were like 5 injuries away from the stanley cup final.

Also you have to look at these arizona and minnesota etc defensive teams and their goalies and look at your team and realize it's not the same

Mike smith in tbl, cgy, edm... just ok
Mike smith in Ari.. all star

Dubnyk in Min... all star
Dubnyk in Edm... garbage

Bryzgalov in Ari.. all star
Bryzgalov in Phi... garbage

Kuemper in ari, and Min... all star
Kuemper in col... major downgrade

I was wondering what kessel would look like in our system as well. Pitts had him as depth and he arguably could have won the conn smyth. He's not as flashy as he was 3 years ago but i think he doesn't have a lot of pressure here and we don't play a defensive system like Arizona so he oculd put up atleast 20 goals. At a little retained i think he could work out.

The only way i see us trading for a goalie is at the deadline and that's if franky or grubes isn't having a solid season come that time. They both played solid last year and if they don't get hurt who knows what would have happened.
I don't know if Ottawa would want a 7mil cap hit for 3 more years either that seems steep for a team to take.

Oh yeah, I'm all for it... kessel can still score, he'd be on the second line/pp and he'll play 82 games a year.. plus he already has 2 cups.

I also feel like he would be relatively cheap to aquire, Ari got him for galenchuyk (jost) a prospect and a 4th..

I feel like a late 1st and jost maybe a prospect could get the deal done with another 1.2m retained
